I want to buy a car this weekend and I have a budget of 1.2M. I am finally narrowing to two choices: A 2003 honda pilot(tokunbo) or a 2001 toyota highlander(naija)...(both slightly higher than my budget)...I'm going with a mechanic who hopefully will give a professional unbiased opinion...Just thought i should hear some expert opinion here....on the face value which do you think i should go for? Also If you have a car for sale, I might be interested if its within the budget. just let me know |

kingschild123: I feel you should go for the Toyota Highlander due to its fuel efficiency and availability of spares. 08080272682 No the Pilot is the best deal but they have transmission issue for that year if you flush your transmission yearly as recommended it will be better, then replace part of trans cooler as recommended and some pressure switches.If you look around Pilot has the same problem as the Honda Odyssey/V6EOD Nigerians were buying some years back before they were all burned by trans issue |

Since the Pilot has this potential issue, why is it the best deal? I personally feel the Highlander is the ugliest mid size SUV around though. But stuck between looks and reliability? It is the latter! |
