It is no longer news that PayPal accepted Nigeria last month although with the only feature which is ability to use it to send money and to make payment(s) online. It's a pity a thread on this same issue was raised up by me which made frontpage before nairaland lost all the threads.I must say that the thread was so educating as different questions and answers came in leaving most of them solved. For that reason,I've decided to come up with the same thread which I assume will as well make frontpage so that everyone can benefit from questions and answers that will posted in here either by me or other nairalanders which I will try my best to modify if I see it/them not perfect. Let's get started; To open your Nigeria PayPal account for the first time, kindly cross-check that you are on Nigeria IP because it is very paramount you open it on Nigeria IP for the first time and as well be accessing it with Nigeria IP and not just any IP.I've heard and seen Nigeria PayPal accounts limited and permanently limited all because they opened it on IP different from that of Nigeria which make use of Proxy Server technology that is strictly against PayPal Terms of Service. To always check and confirm your IP before and after opening it,do type www.ip2location.com into the browser you want to use to make sure you are on Nigeria IP.You can also train yourself with clearing all your browsing histories including cookies on your browser before opening or each time you want to access your PayPal account by clicking TOOLS > CLEAR RECENT BROWSING HISTORY>Drop down the first item and select EVERYTHING >Mark/tick all items in the item and finally click on CLEAR NOW and allow it to load and then restart your browser if possible although that is optional. Once you've done that, you are ready to go and all you need to do is to type www.paypal.com/ng into your browser.Once it opens, fill the form with your real details & then click on "Agree and create account" button. After doing that,go to your e-mail you submitted to get a link to activate your PayPal that must have been sent to your e-mail.Update your security questions and answers noting them somewhere safe because those are the details you will need to do most things like changing of password, change of names and many other things. Once you've done those things, that means you've successfully opened and activated your PayPal account of which the next thing is to verify it. To verify your PayPal account, you need either Visa or Mastercard that you are sure of it billing address(your address you submitted when filling the form that was given to you by your bank in order to open an account for you and as well give you ATM card).Should in case you don't know or can't remember, kindly visit your bank for it because the adding of your card to your paypal account won't go through if not correct and also make sure you have at least withdrawable N500 on your card because your card will be charge less than $2 by PayPal which will also be returned to your account. Once you are ready and set with all what I've listed above, you are ready and set to verify your PayPal account by following the simple steps below: Firstly, log in to your paypal account and make sure you entered the correct billing address for your card as I've said earlier on. Secondly, check your email for the 'Welcome to Paypal' email sent into the email address you used in opening your paypal account. There is a 'Link Your Card' link inside that email; click on that link, follow the prompt and log into your paypal account. In your account follow the step by step instruction making sure your card details and billing address are correct, then click 'Continue'. If your card details are correct, Paypal will deduct $1.95 from your account with an instruction to look out from an alert from your bank in 2-3 days time. My GTB alert took less than 1 hour to arrive on my phone. The message in the bank alert goes thus " Acct""""""""""""""""""""8899 The naira equivalent of USD 1.95 has been approved for the transaction done on PP"8899CODE 5674314577 LU Thirdly, Log back into your Paypal account and click either the 'Verify' tab at the top of your paypal account statement or 'Confirm your card' link in the right hand column of your Papal account. Doing either of the two will take you to a window where you'll be required to enter the four digit code in the alert message sent to you by your bank. Enter the 4 digit numbers preceding CODE in the SMS alert; its 8899 in the sample SMS given above. After entering the 4 digit code in the space provide, scroll down and click the 'Confirm Card' tab. That's it!You Nigeria PayPal account has been verified. You've successfully verified your Nigerian Paypal account and you can now shop all over the world with that your ATM card without any merchant turning you down each time you choose the Paypal payment option. Verifying your account also lifts the limit off the $250 spending limit on unverified accounts. I hope this helps if you are having issues with verifying your Nigerian Paypal account. Feel free to comment below if you need more explanation, support or assistance and I will be so much glad and available to be of great assistance to making sure that any of your PayPal wahala and issues are resolved be it on Nigeria PayPal or other countries PayPal account that can receive fund/payment like that of USA,UAE & lots more. I think Paypal is not ready to render services to Nigerians. Paypal limited my friend's account after he sent 50.00 USD to a foreign Paypal account, they requested for his Bank Statement and Identity Card (Int'l Passport, National ID or Drivers License). 1 Like |

Trut: I think Paypal is not ready to render services to Nigerians. Paypal limited my friend's account after he sent 50.00 USD to a foreign Paypal account, they requested for his Bank Statement and Identity Card (Int'l Passport, National ID or Drivers License). PayPal is highly ready and they've been ready for so long but people don't understand their secured system are not getting how to use PayPal. My reason for that is that I've been operating my USA & UAE PayPal accounts with my real name and as a Nigerian since 2009 which they are aware of without no problem.Just get things right with them. Back to the main issue,I will like to get a copy of the e-mail sent to your friend when his account was limited and I will be able to deduce the reason for the limitation. The piece of information they are requesting for is a normal thing in their system That account will be restored though after submitting the requested piece of information. No cause for alarm my brother! |

guente02: Has anyone ever made payment on ebay with PayPal Nigeria? You can buy from ebay with Nigeria PayPal.The only issue there is that most sellers on ebay will love to ship to confirmed address on your PayPal except if you can inbox them prior making payment if they can ship to Nigeria. As for me,I've not used my Nigeria PayPal to make any purchase on paypal but rather do use my usual way using my us address and us paypal. |

hi nairalanders. now that paypal has shown us the green light to use their services without iota of privacy. i want to know if ebay sellers will accept payment from 9ja and ship to nigeria.. i am prone to using shipping company which bring high cost burden on me.. I would love to know if its possible, if yes, hence, will i receive my item at my doorstep?. I am used to paying for inter-state delivery after a huge payment on shipping... I am in ondo state and i have a post office address... Thanks as u help. |

legalwealth:YES,alway check that. like a blackberry seller, who accept to ship worldwide, wen i check with direct shipping to Nigeria, is $20 while to US address is $6, but remember, ur third party agent will charge u $20 to Lagos, so judge it. |

tonjeola: It depends though but there are enough free shipping to USA address. You must also consider the time it will take to get to you and as well the security of your item. Consolidating items to be shipped and shipped securely I think is the best. |

legalwealth: I would assume then that it's best to get the seller to ship for free to a shipping company of your preference first. This could mean cheaper shipping and more security for you goods. |

Dewze: I'm sure you got my message. Taking for example,I won a bid for a chandelier and it was shipped to my USA address for free and it got there broken which I was alerted of. Immediately,I returned the item just spending $7 for repackaging and I was refunded my $152. What do you think the case must have been assuming the seller shipped directly to me in Nigeria. That aside, those consolidating my items in USA before being forwarded to me via DHL here in Nigeria are experts that know how to pack anything securely. I got my new year laptop worth over $1,400,my S4,S5 and many other fragile goods and items which they shipped to me without any breakages or problem right to my door-step in Nigeria. That way, ones items are highly secure also in the sense that you can pay for insurance on your good if you see it neccessary. In conclusion,I suggest Nigerians should follow the normal way for the main time everything will be okay. |

tonjeola:please how does one opt for this without passing thru Us address? I thought they said in order to purchase from eBay, one has to open a us address with which it will be shipped to before sending down to Niger... or is it optional. HOW DOES ONE GO THRU DIRECT SHIPPING and is it less costly or otherwise? tnx |
