Can DESTINY be altered?
Re: Destiny! by Nobody: 4:18pm On Jul 07, 2014
Destiny is a series of predetermined events that necessarily must happen in an individual's life; and as such cannot be altered. This is one reason why the notion is Unchristian.

How can destiny be unxtian when the very foundations of xtianity is based on the destiny of the nazarene who was prophesied by Isaiah that he will come and die and be ressurected. Or are you saying that the death of Jesus was not his destiny?

There is a huge difference between prophecy and destiny, though on first glance they may look similar. Prophecy is basically having an insight into what may happen in the future but destiny does not deal with a 'may be'...it is hinged on what 'must' happen, irrespective of whether the individual wants to change it or not.

The story of Jonah and Nineveh is a classic case of how prophecies work. The insight into the future is there but that future is always subject to change. Similarly, the insight into Jesus' future is one that was not exactly caste in stone. He made it quite clear that his life is his to give in the Gospel of John 10: 17-18. The freedom to choose made Jesus' case different from destiny.
