RE
Fourcade: After some deliberations as regards the whatsapp group. . .Nairaland members that would like to join the group should drop their numbers here or send a pm to Gozie Diora or Fourcade! grin

The following rules has been put in a place already. . . grin
1. The group is only for francophiles and any one who enters just to make jest of it or discourage others will be ejected.
2. All should know that French is the primary language of the group and therefore should make efforts to type in french no matter how bad.
3. Corrections should be made amicably and friendly debate on french grammar as well as other issues is encouraged.
4. Tribalism, insults and the likes are highly prohibited. Offenders will be ejected.
5. Since it's for the good of all, the task of keeping the group lively is everybody's task, therefore, we should collectively make efforts to make the group a success by bringing in healthy topics from different aspects of life.
6. All can add new members but should be mindful of whom they add to the group. Any added member must be a francophile and must adhere to the rules of the group.
7. Shortened words like "je s8 le b1 garc1 de c7 femme" are discouraged.
8. Members should not take the platform as a new means of flirting or romantic exhibitions. However, healthy friendship/acquaintances is encouraged.
9. Members are expected to show maturity in relating to others. Know when to drop an issue and how to tolerate different personalities without taking anything to heart. It's all for fun and networking.
10. Most importantly, each member is responsible for any thing he/she posts in the group as well as whom he or she decides to add to his or her list. Admin has NOTHING to do with any aftermath of such posting or addition.

I'm sure the above rules will not be task for any of us cause from what I've seen so far on this thread, you are all great people. Thanks.

Eleven Amazing Reasons Why You Should Learn a
Foreign Language
• Improve your employability
• Develop confidence
• Meet new people and develop life-long friendships
• Discover a new culture
• To appreciate international literature, music, art and
film
• Increase your brain power
• Study or live overseas
• Become more open-minded
• To make travel more feasible and enjoyable
• Impress people around you
• Discover a new culture
FAQ.
As a person with English as my first language, what
would be the most useful foreign language that I
could learn?
These two lists make it clear which languages you
should consider.
1. The list of 10 most spoken languages by number of
countries
French
Arabic
Spanish
Portuguese
German
Italian
Mandarin
Malay
Kiswahili
Russian
2. The six official languages of the United Nations
Arabic
Chinese
English
French
Russian
Spanish
Why these three lists?
Of course, when you learn a new language, your point
is to reach to the biggest amount of people that
language can offer for you. You probably want the
language to be the most useful language when you
travel. And languages used by mega international
worldwide organizations are good ones to take into
consideration.
French
With Nigeria surrounded by Francophone countries,
learning French can majorly boost anyone’s
professional worth. Spoken by more than 290 million
people worldwide, French has truly become a global
language. It is the official language of 29 countries
including France, Canada, Switzerland, Monaco,
Luxembourg, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Haiti, Belgium,
Rwanda, Togo, Mali and more.
France dominates in pharmaceuticals,
telecommunications, aeronautics, energy production,
and more. In addition, with global initiatives to
promote development in impoverished areas of Africa,
French is key. Many countries throughout North
Africa, West Africa, Central Africa and East Africa have
French as one of the official languages. Being able to
communicate in French can land you consultant,
non-profit, administration, and tons of other jobs.
French is also the official language of NATO, the
United Nations, the Olympics, the Red Cross, and
other international organizations. For Americans,
since Spanish is often the first foreign language
learned, speaking French gives you an edge over
other jobseekers.

This is a great greeting to use with anyone you see rather often or someOne you know rather well. As is the case with greeting someone, bidding someone farewell

2. Coucou! – Hey there! (kuku)

This is an extremely informal way of greeting someone, so reserve this one for close friends and family,

This literally means ‘what’s new?’ and is an excellent greeting to use with a friend you haven’t spoken with in a while, with the intent of starting a conversation.

4. Allô? – Hello? (ahlo)
While a cognate of English, this is not used in the same capacity as bonjour, in that you cannot use it to greet people on the street.

5. Au revoir! – Goodbye! (ohrvwar.’)
This expression, like bonjour, is another go-to standard salutation, usable in virtually any situation: as you leave the hair salon, as you leave the bus, as you take leave from an acquaintance.

Use to apologies for any wrong or inconveniencies
