When the doctors in the employ of Lagos state Government went on strike in 2011 in a failed attempt to bully Babatunde Fashola, the governor of Lagos state,using another phoneynomenclature called Medical Guild, the governor called their bluff and fired hundreds of these doctors, it was the naive but fiery Bamidele Aturu they hired to argue their case at the Industrial Court of Arbitration.Aturu went on all cylinders and defended the doctors.
Dateline, Tuesday, 8th July, 2014, the same Bamidele Aturu who was a willing tool in their hands, collapsed and the doctors he defended were on strike and had to be ferried from one hospital to another looking for help (probably other health professionals remembered him and looked the other way) until he died.

Fashola is vindicated.Imagine , intern doctors requesting to be paid teaching allowance padded in the dubious conmess (birthed by the irresponsible action of Prof Olikoye Ransome-Kuti in 1985) and the Lagos state government sensing that this is dubious turned it down and guess what?

I was baffled to know that Bamidele Aturu never saw anything wrong in such malfeasance and was defending them, even used his clout as a respected human rights lawyer to build up public sympathy in favor of the doctors who will treat him callously later in life.
We're not ready to be serious with the health sector of this country.
The doctors are asking that other health professionals should not be consultant even though they are aware that as far back as 1970s , other health professionals have been granted consultant status. Imagine the extent the doctors could go to have their way?
Aturu must come back and see with regret the monsters he created out of the Doctors he defended while alive.

Judicial workers are asking for the collective good of the judiciary by requesting that the independence of the judiciary will be served if it gets first line charge from the federation account instead of depending for funding from the executive.

yes that is what they thought you in Nigerian medical school, even nafdac, naca, nhis etc , other health professionals are support staff and that is why they are headed by doctors by keeping quiet when orhii was appointed to head nafdac. As we speak now, the war against fake drug was saboteured by the doctors poor understanding of the drug distribution in Nigeria. Yet a doctor is heading nafdac!

It's this poor understanding of the peculiar setting of the multidisciplinary approach in the health sector that probably made Aturu to support those doctors. A doctor is not the head of any other health professional. It's only a senior nurse that can head the nursing team, a senior pharmacist will head the pharmacy unit and when things go wrong. It is his license that is at stake NOT THE DOCTOR'S LICENSE

The problem with the public sector is that if left unchecked ,rather than serve the people ,it starts serving itself
The Nigerian public sector is corrupt and useless as the politicians themselves.when universitity professor can even dare to blackmail obj to pay them 70% of the country's budget ,then you know there is no future from those professors in our university to the do-nothings who spend all their working time trading.

You guys are talking of the presentthats ok. Am seriously thinking about the future. Its a bleak future for our health system. Medical students arand young Doctors are not showing any sign of committment to the Job. From their body language u knw these guys are out to make the money and rock their lives to the fullest. If Doctors who graduated frm medical school in the 70s and early 80s cld b dis irresposible with their quest for a "Rockstar" lifestyle I js wonder what these new kids on the block will do. A doctor doesn't miss niteclubs and hve babes left right center and dresses like Wizkid and Davido with blings . We all know this because they live amogst us.

Not supporting the govt,but I believe strike should be last resort. The medical profession is too sensitive to be toyed with,and the doctors should have considered the aftermath of the strike on the people. Afterall,they are like the human messiah on the people. Something aren't just worth it.

I dont think we have doctors in this country...all we have are money conscious experts playing with people's lives.

If drs are so irrelevant as u Johesu goons say , why didn't the consultant lab run aturu's test and diagnose his ailment, then go to consultant pharmacist to prescribe drugs and then consultant nurse to give the drugs. Bamidele dies from hypertension and yet all the consultants in johesu couldn't do anything. Johesu seems to know more than drs so carry on while we sit down and watch.
