RELATNSHIP BETWEEN FASTING AND QURAN.
By Hajj. AbuBakar S.

Examine two verses;

First verse:
"O you who believe! Fasting has been ordained to you as it was ordained to those before you so that you can become pious"

Second verse:
"This is the book(Quran);there is no doubt therein,a guidance for the pious"

ANALYSIS
*By pondering on the 1st verse, we will understand the goal and target behind fasting is to make us pious (MUTTAQEEN)

* The 2nd verse message is that Quran will only be guidance for pious (MUTTAQEEN)

Combining the messages of the two verses, we can have the following lessons:

1- Ramadan is to gain piety (taqwa) so that we can benefit from the guidance of Quran

2- The more we acquire taqwa (piety) from Ramadan, the better we shall benefit from the light of Quran

3- Couple with the fact the Quran which is a guide for MUTTAQEEN (pious) is revealed in the month of Muttaqeen (month of Ramadan)

I beseech Allah to accept our fasting so that we will become MUTTAQEEN (pious) and benefit more better from Quran.

TAQWA (Fear of God) AS A GOAL FOR FASTING;ITS BENEFITS

In the last discussion, we examined relationship between fasting and Quran. If the goal of fasting is to acquire piety (TAQWA) as established in the last discussion, what are those benefits waiting for MUTTAQEEN in the light of Quran. We shall examine this in today discussion:

1- PROSPERITY
"Fear Allah so dat u may b prosperous". Q.2:189

i.e. RAMADAN→will give us PIETY→lead us to PROSPERITY(here and hereafter)

2- LOVE OF ALLAH
"Indeed Allah love the MUTTAQEEN (pious ones)" Q.3:76

Through acquiring taqwa in this blessed month,we shall be among those that Allah loves.

3- ACCEPTANCE OF OUR IBADAH (WORSHIP)
"Allah accept ONLY from pious ones (MUTTAQEEN)". Q.5:27

i.e. RAMADAN→PIOUS ONE→ACCEPTANCE OF IBADAH (worship)

In sha Allah, we shall examine more benefit in our next discussion. May Allah accept us all.
