Changing Your Brakes? Don’t Forget the Brake Fluid.
Everyone knows that when brakes wear out they need to be replaced. But most people don’t realize that brake fluid wears out too and should be replaced periodically. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture. Over time, the increase in moisture can affect brake performance and cause a dramatic decrease in braking ability. In severe cases, loss of braking can occur.

ROUNDABOUTS: Drivers approaching a roundabout must use their indicators when turning left, right or making a U-turn, but not when going straight ahead (as this would mislead other drivers into thinking you are going left or right). When exiting a roundabout, whether you are turning left, right or even going straight ahead, you must always indicate a left turn just before you exit, unless it is not practical to do so (when traveling straight ahead on a small single lane roundabout, it may be impractical to indicate left when exiting).

The Prius brake system is interwoven with the hybrid brake system so both the friction (wheel) brakes and hybrid motors can seamlessly slow the vehicle while providing consistent pedal feedback to the driver. As a result the brake system on 2004-2009 Prius can make some odd noises (likened to a buzz or a squish noise) when the pedal is first pressed. The 2010+ Prius has a similar noise, sometimes described as a buzz.

Exactly what is happening to the braking system?
Brake pads mount to the brake caliper, which is a C-clamp that straddles the disc or brake rotor. The caliper rides in either a metal slide, or a set of pins that allow it to shift left to right when the brakes are applied. When these slides or pins corrode from rust, they freeze up so that the caliper can’t float when you apply or release the brake pads. So when you apply the brakes, and then release the pedal, the caliper stays locked in the applied position, causing the thin metal rotor to heat up and warp. When the pedal is applied again, you feel the brake pads riding on the warped rotor surface. It feels like the brakes are “trembling.” The technical term for this sensation is “pedal pulsation.”

Hubcaps
The hubcap is not the fancy wheel and it is most certainly not the hub. Rather, the hubcap is the metal or plastic covering that goes over the hub. The primary purpose of the hubcap is aesthetic, although it can also occasionally serve to protect the hub itself.

One of the benefits of diesel engines is that their design allows them to produce a great deal of torque, which can be beneficial in a few different ways. One, when you opt for a larger vehicle, such as an SUV like the Tiguan or Touareg, the added torque allows you to tow more than you would with a conventional gas-burning engine. The increased twist also comes in handy for sports cars such as the three we mentioned, as the high torque at a low RPM helps to make them quick off the line.

Toyota Check Engine light – This is a commonly spotted light, and can be indicative of a variety of problems: some minor, some more serious. This doesn’t mean you need to pull over immediately, but rather that it is something you should look into in the near future.

This light is activated when Toyota’s on board diagnostic system detects a problem in the electronic control system that it can’t correct on its own. This could be caused by car problems such as a loose fuel cap, low oil pressure, an engine misfire and more.

Don’t ignore warning signals

You cannot be expected to be a master mechanic when it comes to car engine problems. However, it doesn’t take a professional to notice difficulties that are happening. A small puddle on the pavement underneath your car could be an oil or transmission fluid leak. What sounds like a pinging noises coming from the hood can be a problem with fuel combustion which ultimately ruins the engine. The danger to the engine block only gets worse as the warning signals are ignored. A high-pitched screech is a common signal that there is trouble with the belts. If one of those should snap not only will your car cease to function, but the whiplash of the severed belt can cause additional problems under the hood.

1964 Ford Mustang

The big news in 1964 was the introduction of the Ford Mustang which got it’s first debut at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York on April 17, 1964. It combined it sporty looks, economy, and performance in a package that had an affordable price tag. The Mustang had enough options that you could have it as an economy car to a luxury sports car. It had an extended hood, shortened rear deck, sculptured body panels, and sporty bucket seats and was still able to be a family sized sedan that you could get groceries with.

The idea of a car driving upside down might seem preposterous, the kind of stunt seen in dumb action movies. However, science has assured us that it is indeed possible for a car to drive on the ceiling.Race cars, specifically those used for Formula One racing, are designed with inverted wings. They work in the opposite fashion to aircraft wings—instead of generating lift, they generate downforce, which pushes the car down against the ground. While this might seem counterproductive in relation to achieving high speeds, the downforce has a practical use: It allows F1 cars to take corners at a velocity that would otherwise send them flying off the road.
