I tried it when they are still too young to bolt or show much reaction, they just stare and play with my face. I wouldn't dream of attempting it on a toddler.

Besides, the taste is not that bad. It's simply salty...... "carry baby....sing small song....siddon am for leg..... suck the nose..... spit am for tissue....... smile for baby....... drop am for ground or bed make he play..... waka comot go troway the tissue and wash your hands.....CHIKENA" grin
Seeing your baby breathe freely is more than enough reward for the ogbono you tasted kiss

My Dad always used either a wet handkerchief, or used cotton bud to clean my nose.....Sucking a child's ikumu is disgusting.

Correct one... Did it for my son when he was younger because my mum did it for us all and I saw many mothers do it for their kids.

It is also great for bonding as my wife constantly complains that she thanks God she has a dad else my son would have made her hyper jealous because we close like that.

TV01: Hygenic? who cares?

As soon as I spot anything "bubbling" around his nostrils, I vacuum it up like "dyson". Hot or cold, watery, soft or hard.
My boy is used to it. As soon as he sees me lean forward with pursed lips he knows it aint "kissy kissy" time.

He immediately closes his eyes, clenches his fists and instinctively opens his mouth. I don't stop till he starts gasping for breath.
It typically happens when I bathe him in the morning or evening, so straight down the plughole - but I'll "act on sight".

I once did it during his weekly swimming lesson. Come see whooping and cheering (if de bogey enter water, these oyinbos go abandon class 0!). My man is used to it now, oft times he'll just tug my shirt and say "daddy suck nose" grin!

Salt content varies, but can be a great health indicator.

While mummy is looking for "wipe", daddy is doing like "Action Jackson"

Awesome for bonding.

For me the reason is that most mothers would not want to bruise or hurt the baby's fragile nose. Even as adults it hurts when you continuously hold your nose in an attempt to get rid of mucus from it.

When dis issue came up, I had to place a call to My wife to shade more light on it briefly dat there is an arguement somewhere in respect of d said issue. I don't always fancy medical tales. I listen atimes just to make her happy... They make me sick and ultimately whet my craving for hard wine. Suction therapy are also done on adults, most of who may be on life support machines. Such measures are administered on extreme cases. There have been reports of momentary dizziness immediately after a bout of administration to random healthy volunteers, and slight scarlet colouration and a mild build up of tears in the eyes. I don't think itz a sweet tale when constantly done to kids. Do it softly softly, if u must. D effects may not be very visible if there is any effect at all. I don't want to think about that. I can't wholly explain how I feel when I use tissue to wipe my kids nose and itz not perfectly clean compared to when I do it with my u know? I remember once my first child had a blocked nose, I sucked d thing out. Next day I had a blocked nose. I didn't care about dat it passed to me. But I tried to avoid going too close to other members of my household for fear contacting it from me an adult may be worse than doing same from a young lad. God save us all.
