We were confined to those four walls
Four tall walls,rooms of four walls
Some leaning,some sleeping,some whistling Some smoking,some fanning,some talking.


We saw them coming,
Fat men,medium men,slim men,
With their heads decked in caps,
Pot-belly cupped beneath their chest in shirts,
Shirts tucked in trousers,
Trousers fastened with belt to the waist and foot fitted in shoes.


They came calling our individual names,
Innocent! Criminal! Suspect!
Yessir! Yessir!, we answered.
Those were calls of death,
Or calls of birth.


That night we slept,we were safe,
That night we dreamt,we were safe,
Our people came,thus all were freed,
Governor Fashola came,thus a prison saved,


We woke,same gate!
We spoke,oh same gate!
You same old gate of prison
Turned new gate of reason.

We walked into the new gate
Same four walls,rooms of four walls
Some standing,some jumping,some dancing
Some rocking,some cuddling,some kissing

We stood on the lawn of freedom park
Wishing our country free of crimes
To tell of such times
Of the freedom of our prison to park.
