You want a short height SUV with high ground clearance that is very offroad capable while offering either 5 or 7 seater in reasonable comfort? Toyota 4runner Is your best bet. With 3 trim level (SR5, sports and limited) each having 4 sub-trim based on engine V8 vs V6 and transmission choice 4x4 vs 4x2 (totalling 12. Trims) For the limited you get more luxury gizmos and some pseudo wood and vinyl (pseudo leather) upholstery. For the V6 2x4 models here is the spec sheet Base engine size: 4.0 L Cam type: Double overhead cam (DOHC) Cylinders: V6 Valves: 24 Valve timing: Variable Torque: 282 ft-lbs. @ 3800 rpm Horsepower: 245 hp @ 5200 rpm Turning circle: 36.7 ft. Base engine type: gas DriveTrain Drive type: rear wheel drive Transmission: 4-speed automatic Transmission hill holder Suspension Double wishbone front suspension Solid live axle rear suspension Front independent suspension Fuel type: regular unleaded Fuel tank capacity: 23.0 gal. Range in miles (cty/hwy): 368.0/460.0 mi. EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 16/20 mpg For the V6 4X4 Models, here are the spec sheets Engine & Performance Base engine size: 4.0 L Cam type: Double overhead cam (DOHC) Cylinders: V6 Valves: 24 Valve timing: Variable Torque: 282 ft-lbs. @ 3800 rpm Horsepower: 245 hp @ 5200 rpm Turning circle: 36.7 ft. Base engine type: gas DriveTrain Drive type: four wheel drive On demand 4WD Mechanical center differential Descent control Electronic hi-lo gear selection Automatic locking hubs Transmission: 4-speed automatic Center limited slip differential Center locking differential Transmission hill holder Suspension Double wishbone front suspension Solid live axle rear suspension Front independent suspension Fuel type: regular unleaded Fuel tank capacity: 23.0 gal. Range in miles (cty/hwy): 345.0/437.0 mi. EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 15/19 mpg For the V8 2X4 models, here are the spec sheet Engine & Performance Base engine size: 4.7 L Cam type: Double overhead cam (DOHC) Cylinders: V8 Valves: 32 Torque: 320 ft-lbs. @ 3400 rpm Horsepower: 235 hp @ 4800 rpm Turning circle: 36.7 ft. Base engine type: gas DriveTrain Drive type: rear wheel drive Transmission: 5-speed automatic Transmission hill holder Suspension Double wishbone front suspension Solid live axle rear suspension Front independent suspension Fuel type: regular unleaded Fuel tank capacity: 23.0 gal. Range in miles (cty/hwy): 345.0/414.0 mi. EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 15/18 mpg For the V8 4X4 models, here are the spec sheets Engine & Performance Base engine size: 4.7 L Cam type: Double overhead cam (DOHC) Cylinders: V8 Valves: 32 Torque: 320 ft-lbs. @ 3400 rpm Horsepower: 235 hp @ 4800 rpm Turning circle: 36.7 ft. Base engine type: gas DriveTrain Drive type: four wheel drive Full time 4WD Mechanical center differential Descent control Electronic hi-lo gear selection Automatic locking hubs Transmission: 5-speed automatic Center limited slip differential Center locking differential Transmission hill holder Suspension Double wishbone front suspension Solid live axle rear suspension Front independent suspension Fuel type: regular unleaded Fuel tank capacity: 23.0 gal. Range in miles (cty/hwy): 322.0/391.0 mi. EPA mileage est. (cty/hwy): 14/17 mpg. Now here's the deal if you want on road speed, get the V6 its faster due to its 245bhp compared to the 230bhp of the V8, if you always tow cargoes, or equipment or intend to do very serious offroad, get the V8 1 Like |
