If Nigerian xtians are anything like their counterparts elsewhere in the world then they are probably willing to tolerate the homosexuals in the church so long as they appear to be 'doing the Lord's work'.

while it most certainly isn't a walk in the park, I wouldn't say we have it near as bad as homosexuals.

for instance, 14 years....

mostly people are always uncomfortable with any idea/reasoning that contradicts their personal perceptions and religious dogmas. but the nigerian version is absurd.
tell a born-again interviewer that u re an atheist - b sure you ve lost the job
the day u tell ur neighbor you re an atheist - he starts seeing you as a devil
we have a huge population of atheists and gays in nigeria but the discrimination and homophobia can't allow any to declare it publicly.

I think the Atheist is generally just misunderstood, pitied and taken as unserious but not hated. Just listen to or read comments that border on atheism, you'll know that some Religious people are willing to discourse with the Atheist.
However, the Gay is actually hated.

Religion is something else.
A lady here on Naira land said she would prefer to marry a god- believing armed robber than an atheist.
