I have been wondering why the junta that toppled the first republic government sent the Vice President to prison and not the president. It seems the first president was a doormat for the Vice President hence the punishment. All over the world the president calls the shots and are to be blamed or punished when things go wrong but in this case the vice takes the punishment.

One can only conclude that the president was a redundant one or the junta had another thing in mind to send the vice to prison. If the later is the case can somebody please help me unravel what the coupist had in mind.

That question is best directed to the bigoted Buhari who chose to keep his fellow Fulani man Shagari under house arrest while locking up Ekwueme in Kirikiri despite the fact that Ekwueme was the vice president who's more or less a spare tyre.

Here's the verdict of the tribunal set up by Buhari to try the alleged corrupt politicians on Ekwueme;

"Dr. Ekwueme left office poorer than he was when he entered it, and to ask more from him was to set a standard which even saints could not meet."

@ sunnybobo, if your answer is the case, has any Journalist tried to make him answer that question. It will be good if journalist start asking politicians these hard questions. Not only in Nigeria but world over cos lack of hard questions like this makes the to do whatever they like in the sense that they will not answer for this.

All the same since he has not explained why he did that, it's only human for igbos to think like sunnybobo.

BUHARI IS A DEVIL INCARNATE!

BUHARI
1. You jailed Lateef Jakande, Jim Nwobodo, Ambrose Ali, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Ayo Ojewumi on cases that had no foundation… That one is not war on Nigeria and Nigerians right?
2. You protected Awwal Ibrahim, the then Niger State governor, who was arrested in Heathrow Airport in London with 14 million pounds sterling and several millions of Naira and dollars by putting him under house arrest. I wonder why you frown at GEJ for protecting Ijaw thieves?
3. You placed Shehu Kangiwa, Sokoto State Governor who conducted and supervised the famous Bakolori Massacre of poor peasant farmers whose land were appropriated without compensation under house arrest instead of the guillotine like you always do with people that did nothing.
4. Ayo Ojewumi and Prof. Ambrose Alli came out of your prison camps blind as a result of imprisonment on false charges… Even Mandela still had his eyes after decades of imprisonment, what did you inject in their system… Love abi?
5. You publicly executed three innocent Nigerians by enacting an overnight law that made legality illegal for your own good pleasure. Lawal Ojuolape (30), Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Bartholomew Owoh (26). were killed because you upgraded the law to suit your blood thirst.
6. You jailed Ndukar Irabor and Tunde Thompson of the Guardian on stories that were true under Decree 4. You told Nigerian journalists then that “it did not matter whether the story reported was true or not, if my regime did not like it, the writer would go to jail.”
7. You Jailed Pa Adekunle Ajasin… you might want to tell us why?
8. You created emergency rule just because you wanted to jail Fela Anikulapo -Kuti (Abami Eda) out of your way on trumped up charges. The judge later confessed you ordered him to do so..with an apology to Abami Eda. If Fela were alive today, he will win you in any election with or without rigging, you should bury your head in shame and stop calling yourself “elder statesman” you are nothing near a statesman.. you be “enemy of state”.
9. You publicly said ” I decided to deal with this Fela problem once and for all.” was Fela Kuti the voice of truth and freedom a problem? You were and still a problem.. hundreds of thousands are dead in your name..
10. As a smuggler, you supervised the smuggling of 53 suitcases filled with cash through the MMA against the protests of General Tunde Idiagbon and ironically, Abubakar Atiku, the then Director General of the Customs. Your chief smuggler then was your ADC, Col. Mustapha Jokolo.
11. Buhari, the unholy mallam, you placed President Shagari under house arrest inside a palatial mansion in Ikoyi while you locked up Shagari’s Vice, Alex Ekwueme in Kirikiri Prison… so much for being a true Nigerian with no ethnic inclination… Sir Ahmadu Bello will be very proud of you for upholding the dumb ass Dan Fodio estate.
12. Worst of all, you subverted the will of the people that night in 1983 when you disbanded democracy with force… I’ve heard the lame claim of bloodless coup, but you’ve shed more blood in public view than any ruler Nigeria has seen..more than even the stone-hearted Abacha, you are simply a lying, heartless, northern Islamist.

But this is a cogent question that Buhari needs to answer. BUhari, why did you put VP Ekwueme in jail and Shagari the actual president in house arrest?

^^^Bros, you think Nigeria is your average western country, where journalists are free to hold politicians to account!? As a Nigerian journalist, dem no born you well to ask OBJ wetin happen with that Siemens egunge; or to ask IBB wetin happen with the gulf war billions! They are part of the untouchables!

Of course you could try to stand out from the crowd, and ask those hard-hitting questions that need to be asked; but you first have to ensure your publisher/ chairman is on-side, and -more importantly- leave instructions at home for nobody to open any suspicious looking 'parcels' a la Dele Giwa!

If you believe this propaganda, you can also believe also that the earth is flat.
Before Ekwueme entered into politics, he has nil factory to his name but left with a full functioning brewery in Oko.
Before politics he wasn't into hospitality but left with a chain of Modotel hotels built on illegally acquired public lands.
No one can point to me what Shagari acquired in terms of wealth. The likes of Uba Ahmed, Umaru Dikko, Barkin Zuwo and Akinloye suffered more than Ekwueme.
It was the regime through the SMC that locked up the likes of Ekwueme up, and SMC comprises the likes of Buhari, Idiagbon, IBB, David Mark, Bali, Nwachukwu, Gwadebe, Aihkomu etc and not a one man business.

Ekwueme was visibly corrupt, Shagari isnt. If you have any such visible evidence against Shagari, please don't hesitate to produce it.
