This guy is turning out to be the best governor in Nigeria. Just 3 months in office but it seems as if he's been governor for 7 years. If he continues like this, then he should be allowed to govern my dear state for 30 years. @Topic, this is what I've been expecting from state governors all over the country. The fact is that state governors can do alot to boost power supply in their states under the current law. But unfortunately, they'v all been shying away from taking responsibility in the power sector 11 Likes |

For a man who has a four-year tenure to set up a committee for 18 months, almost half of his tenure, isn't that a joke? |

ProfCorruption: For a man who has a four-year tenure to set up a committee for 18 months, almost half of his tenure, isn't that a joke?I guess you didn't read the report. The committee is a working one. They are meant to fix some of the identified problems, eg the issue of lighting up some parts of the state. It is not just a fact finding one. That is what I understand from the terms of reference. 1 Like |

MOBJECTIVE: 1.If he needs 18 months to achieve this, how many months will be needed to act on committee's recommendations? provide an accurate estimate of current power supply, consumption and projected demand in the state across various consumer groups and recommend suitable power generation and supply solution, taking into consideration, Anambra State’s climate, environment, landscape, and scale of development. 2.What other things are they saddled with? To generate electricity? Force private firms to produce and distribute power?, Buy diesels for government offices? |

ProfCorruption:The committee has so much task on its hands, including this The governor also directed the committee to power streetlights in Onitsha and Awka within 18 months, and ensure regular lighting across four major roads in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka within six monthsThe committee may even end up becoming an agency of govt because there is possibility of extending the 18 months contract if they perform well. |
Re: Obiano Moves To Tackle Electric Power Challenges In Anambra State by Nobody: 10:49pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
We should just stop celebrating mediocrity. 1.If Obiano is prepared for office, he wouldn't need this type of committee. More so that an intra-party (APGA) transition occurred. Didn't Peter Obi properly brief him on the state of power in Anambra? What is the relevance of fact finding committee? Or a working committee to invent electricity? 2. If indeed he needs a new perspective on things, he doesn't need a committee that last for eighteen months. Doing what? Buy diesels for government offices? Change street lights? 3.Is there no agency of government saddled with that already? What on earth are commissioners supervising? This is a misplaced move coming from a joke of a governor. He deserves condemnation, not commendation. |
Re: Obiano Moves To Tackle Electric Power Challenges In Anambra State by Nobody: 10:59pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
ProfCorruption: We should just stop celebrating mediocrity. You can theorize as much as you want but at the moment, there is a PROBLEM on ground and the governor has established a committee to solve that problem. What we want is RESULT. If there was an agency of govt saddled with solving that problem, then obviously that agency of govt has been ineffective. Otherwise, there wont be a problem. |
Re: Obiano Moves To Tackle Electric Power Challenges In Anambra State by Nobody: 11:10pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
Sincere9gerian: That still won't make him a good governor or put him in the league of visionaries. 1. if there was an ineffective agency, what should an effective governor do? Reorganize it to be more effective and efficient. Dancing round the problem won't solve it. 2.If such an agency didn't exist (unlikely), what should a governor prepared for the task of moving the state ahead do? Set up one. Running a committee for eighteen months is unthinking and shallow. |
Re: Obiano Moves To Tackle Electric Power Challenges In Anambra State by Nobody: 11:19pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
ProfCorruption:The committee will do all that on behalf of the governor. The governor is neither all-knowing nor omnipresent |

ProfCorruption: We should just stop celebrating mediocrity.what nonsense are u typing? Before peter obi left office, the power supply at onitsha and awka is moderate but recently power supply has gone bad. Traders are complaining because throughout the day, the electricity in the market will be run by gas and they pay double prior to the amount they pay before. What abt industrial estate? they use to have light at least 18hrs out of 24 hrs but now everything is a history. Many companies there can't operate without power supply. Companies like golden oil and vinval only use gen for there staff quarters and offices(the ones I knew). The machines there cannot run without power supply. They are also complaining. What abt peter obi's company? do u think obiano's oga company will be left out? there is nothing wrong with his committee, only if they will deliver a perfect job. 2 Likes |
