CBN Cuts Money And Still Nigeria Goes Bankrupcy. Why?. by jonescyras(m): 9:01am On Jul 27, 2014
I have been on a long quest on this issue but couldnt arrive at a feeding conclusion.... Why would Nigeria borrow money from other countries when Cbn is available to cut enough money?... Just of recent, Gej. Planned to borrow $1b to help fight Boko boys whereas, This money could be made available by CBN...

Money cannot just be minted as you think. It has a severe implication on Nigeria's economy if CBN resort to that.. It may also bring economy into undesirable state.
Going by the pegged exchange of #155.73 to $1, the $1 billion is about #155,730,000,000. The CBN has to incur huge cost on the issueing of new note.. Out of the short money we clamouring for, we would either borrow or draw on our external reserve to finance.
If the CBN issuing that amount of money, double digit inflation is guaranted in the economy which can also create distortion in d economy. Inflation can frighten off the potential investor because no rational investors would choose invest his money there is higher inflation.
The value of naira will depreciate corollary of abruptly injection of money into circulation.. A deterioting exhange rate can worsen balance of payment...... I think it is not wise for government to issue new note in economy...
