Hm... all I see on NL everytime are some set of people that are bent on spoiling Nigeria at all cost, these set of people are from a particular tribe in this country, this guys reason same way and have never for once blink or think twice before they support what's obviously and plainly BAD, they are the first to bite you and the first to cry wolf, I hope and pray Nigeria will survive this, I don't get it, maybe we should just let all these enemy within go, maybe we should just let them leave.

His first major worry and concern is the rise of indiscipline and unprofessional conduct by troops saying the conducts of troops must be above board at all times. - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-Gen. Kenneth Minimah

At least the undisciplined and unprofessional military know how sick and diseased they are..

Zakzaky’s sons ‘taken alive by soldiers and killed’

This is why international law enforcements are very reluctant to work with Nigeria. Our military have innocent blood on their hands..

Nigerian Army Abuse Is Making It Difficult to #BringBackOurGirls

Days later, the survivors' faces tensed at the memory of the grim evening: soldiers dousing thatched-roof homes with gasoline, setting them on fire and shooting residents when they tried to flee. As the village went up in smoke, one said, a soldier threw a child back into the flames.

Even by the scorched-earth standards of the Nigerian military's campaign against Islamist insurgents stalking the nation's north, what happened on the muddy shores of Lake Chad this month appears exceptional.

The village, Baga, found itself in the cross hairs of Nigerian soldiers enraged by the killing of one of their own, said survivors who fled here to the capital of Borno State, 100 miles south. Their home had paid a heavy price: as many as 200 civilians, maybe more, were killed during the military's rampage, according to refugees, senior relief workers, civilian officials and human rights organizations.

Many in the Nigerian military are worse than Boko Haram...

Yet can despite the deep desire by many in the United States to do more for the victims, there are stiff legal roadblocks that may be preventing the Obama administration from sending more military assistance or equipment. Section 620M of the Foreign Assistance Act, commonly referred to as the "Leahy Law," prohibits the U.S. from providing any military assistance "to any unit of the security forces of a foreign country if the Secretary of State has credible information that such unit has committed a gross violation of human rights

You cannot get 60 bullets until you pay a bribe. How in the world can you fight someone who attacks you with thousands of bullets while you have only 30?” a frustrated Nigerian soldier told the Voice of America.

The Nigerian Army has become too, ‘domesticated’, ethnicised, politicised and undisciplined to function as one spartan fighting force in defence of our nation’s territorial integrity. Over the years, the military has majorly been used by governments in power as a force of repression and an army of occupation. Patriotism is lacking in the present force as it appears soldiers lack the morale to confront our common enemy. The military top brass has become too ‘civilianised’ and sloppy to the detriment of their primary goal of defending the nation.

The military may also not win this war because it has also failed to gain the trust of the locals and international community. For example, the United States is wary to fully assist the Nigerian military because of its blighted history of human rights violations through extrajudicial killings of civilians which the Nigerian government has consistently failed to investigate. According to a report in the Huffington Post, influential congressmen in the Foreign Affairs Committees of both Houses of Congress had introduced an amendment advocating for more aggressive US security and intelligence support for the Nigerian military in the field–both to help the #BringBackOurGirls and to better prevent Boko Haram from conducting similar abductions and raids in future. But these initiatives are hampered by stiff legal roadblocks preventing the Obama administration from sending more military assistance or equipment.

Unfortunately, our security forces are not exactly the most reliable in taking human rights obligations seriously during operations. Our military has been condemned by human rights organisations for the use of torture, extrajudicial killings, summary executions and wrongful arrests often during and after offensives against Boko Haram militants.

Only recently too, Lauren Blanchard, a Specialist at the African Affairs Congressional Research Service, told the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-committee on Africa that our military has not been yielding to American suggestions on the war against terror. Rather than continue to waste more money on corruption, President Jonathan must find the courage to demand accountability from the military. To win this war, the military must also put its house in order before terrorism consumes us all. A stitch in time saves nine.

You think they kill other Muslims because they hate Islam and Muslims too? Terror and sadistic acts has nothing to do with religion. They don't even care who their bombs or bullet kill.

And how people dress is now against the laws of the federal republic of Nigeria? Don't you people have better things to worry about than how people dress?

We are talking about a yearly peaceful procession so you mean they stage this every year to incite and if so, how many people died last year and years before from their so called yearly peaceful procession?

You people need to educate yourself about the issues before commenting because you come off very ignorant..

Peaceful procession in Nigeria is not a criminal activity at least so far according to the Nigerian constitution. These thoughtless and irresponsible actions and activities by the Nigerian military creates more problems. This is how people rise up against injustice just like BH emanated viciously after the extra judicial killing of their leader.

Killing Nigerians indiscriminately and callously all over the place means you are not any different from BH..
You are stark mad!! So you will advice any kind of procession in a place like kaduna that is volatile at the moment? Do you people think through your anus or what? People like you are the reason why I still clamour for human sacrifice! Yeye dey smell!

1. Is it against the law to have peaceful procession in Nigeria?

2. Was there any ban on any kind of peaceful procession in Kaduna by the Nigerian government or the military?

I know you are not dumb and unintelligent enough to answer YES.

Btw, in case of any kind of security concern or emergency, sensible and responsible governments alerts and notifies the public and if possible ban public processions so since no such order was in place, it was a lawful and peaceful procession and they shouldn't be slaughtered like animals or subjected to extra judicial killings.

These are basics that we don't have to drill into your heads, but you people have been so bastardized and exposed to so much lawlessness and abuse that your own fundamental rights means nothing to you..

You refused to fight Boko Haram and protect Nigerians, but always quick to slaughter your own bright and educated future, innocent kids and unarmed Nigerians, burn villages, bun buses, damage government property and instigate mayhem and chaos..

Are these military men or just thugs and common criminals even worse than BH..

Do you know that permission of security official(s) is required before protest of any kind?? Are you saying this permission was granted to them by security operatives? Who even said it was a procession?? They claimed to be protesting 'peacefully' against isreal. Is that advisable in such a region that is bedevile with security challenges? Don't we have enough in our hands already? Are you aware that it was one of the protesters who shot at one of security officers? There is no way you can justify such a protest except you have chosen to be plain stupid!

Nonsense

aren't you tired of spewing nonsense and your imaginative arguments to mislead others?

tell this to pro-democracy protesters who used to denounce the military back them; the likes of Soyinka, Saro Wiwa, Abiola, etc. of course, you won't tell them this rubbish. you are only talking madness here out of prejudice because the victims of this wanton brutality are northerners and Muslims. just know that what goes around comes around. today it is the turn of northerners to be at the receiving end of this mad brutality. tomorrow, it may be your turn. instead of condemning brutality and extra-judicial killing that can cause us another instability, you are here playing with words.

aren't there protesters in support of the Palestinians even in Europe and America? you should read in the news how pro- Palestinian protesters clash with pro-Israel protesters in Paris, and also both groups clash with the police. how many did the French police kill? and is there a state of emergency in Kaduna for the army to take law into their hands? there is no state of emergency. so why did the army have to go to the protest zone, and not the police? so many questions and all these questions have answers that cannot justify this brutality in Zaria against Nigerians, regardless of their background or religion.
