Why is oil still dropping and why are some tabloids tagging shale oil as the cause?

Did someone say Shale Oil is expensive to process and referred to wikipedia which may have been based on old findings? Does technology evolve to make things easier and less costlier. If shale oil is expensive why is it booming in the US and Canada? Does this mean that the whites like to waste money on unprofitable ventures despite being expensive and economically not feasible? smiley

It's simple Economics. These guys prefer to waste money on such venture as it gives more return on the long run. For example, more jobs are created, their foreign reserve is preserved and the value of their currency appreciates etc. More importantly, shale gas now gives these countries the mechanism to further control errant countries such as ours as they can now decide to wreck your economy by not buying your crude.

Increase in supply would always lead to a decrease in demand. Oil prices has fallen cos of the excess amount of Oil (Shale included) in circulation, so less demand.

Lowering production output by OPEC would have made the price increase a bit but it would be made of non-effect by the non-OPEC exporting countries like the US and Canada with their recent new methods of producing Shale Oil(Fracturing).

So a decrease in production by OPEC would have lead to a increase in production by the US & Co. to caution the effect. That's why the production rate of OPEC was still maintained at 30MMbbl/d which would be unfavourable to countries like Naija and co, but on the long run will teach governments on their overdependence of oil.

Therefore, without Shale Oil, life would still be as rosy as before.

I understood Baker Hughes has put recruitment on hold. I don't think graduate FEs are among though, an experienced candidate was informed just a few days before she was scheduled to discuss her offer package. It is not clear, however, if this development is related to the Halliburton/Baker merger or the falling oil price.

well that would make alot of sense if recruitment is on hold. i think graduate FEs are part. i know someone who has passed the video interview but he hasnt been contacted for two weeks now. i also think the merger might be causing this.

Hello my friends,
I'm Zeynep from Turkey. I found this website while I was looking for information about Baker Hughes graduate field engineer recruitment. I did my webcam interview last week for graduate field engineer position. When do you think I will hear an answer from them good or bad? Seems like people are very informed here also love to help each other. Sorry for any grammar mistakes.
Thank you for your answers,

Zeynep

The emboldened is what I wanted to see and that was why I threw in my questions. There has to be something that is driving the boom as opposed to it not being economically feasible. But over time, say 25 years from now, there is likely to be a decline as seen here: http://shalebubble.org/ There are lots of other resources hidden in that page below.

Fracking has been known to be the most effective method of recovering oil, even when an oil well is drilled, fracking the well walls open up pores by increasing their porosity and permeability.

The final nail to the coffin is the over supply. I am satisfied with that.

David, thanks...

Can someone please confirm whether or not baker hughes recruitment is on hold or not

I got this email like three weeks ago...

Congratulations, you have successfully passed the initial interview for the 2015 Opportunities- Graduate Field Engineer position. At this time you are eligible but not guaranteed an opportunity to attend a Baker Hughes Experience. We appreciate your patience as we prepare for these unique events.

If you are extended an invite to a Baker Hughes Experience, it will be sent to the e-mail address within your profile at www.bakerhughes.com/graduate.

Thank you for your interest in Baker Hughes.

Hi Zeynep, after the video interview I waited for a month to get an answer...However I know someone who just did the interview recently, and was told by Bakerhughes to wait for a week for a feedback. ...I hope that answers your question.

Good luck

@ondolilian22 try this link. It should help!

@ZeynepJeo a BH recruiter was in Turkey for a recruitment event that held from 25th Nov - 29th Nov. I'm guessing this was BHE but to confirm you can call BH headquarters in Turkey to know if the BHE has been held or not. Hope this helps!

Good luck to you both! smiley

Thank you for all kind wishes and I hope everyone gets the positive answer they wait for. smiley I did my webcam interview on November 25th so I guess I missed the opportunity embarassed. It still says "accepting offers " at taleo even though it's not listed on job search. It's not easy to reach Turkey office, there's no email address or phone number on internet. Thanks again for every comment. If they hire me I will tell you smiley

This current incessant decrease in oil price has nothing to do with demand and supply, shale gas exploration.......it is purely political. U.S having seen that sanctions dnt bite Russia much has resolved to crash russia's economy through crashing the price of russia's main export. It is so unfortunate that opec is not really independent. Saudi Arabia refused to cut opec's oil output knowing fully well that it will stop the dwindling of oil prices. I am sure washinghton persuaded them to do so. They would be compensated heavily by washinghton.
I don't understand why european countries and other countries decided to be american puppets and servants even to their own detriment. Washinghton persuaded european countries not to allow the south stream gas project inorder to undermine moscow's trade with wetern europe. I still don't understand why they are scared of an independent and prospering russia

Hello ,

I thought after been successful in the english test, one should expect a call from BH.

Hi GeoAlpha,
When did your friend received the BHE's invitation? When is he supposed to attend it?
Re: Baker Hughes 2015 Graduate Field Engineer! by GeoAlpha: 2:50pm On Dec 09, 2014
she attended weeks ago. she was invited to netherlands. i think it is because i am not Italian but at the same time the BH recrutiment process states that when u passed the english test then u get invite for BHE. so i am confused. i got my english result november 11, 2014.

All hands should be on deck. They will call. Always remember that BH has just been acquired and there are lots of reshuffling that will be undergone in order to know the next course of action to take. Meetings, presentations , forecast, due processes etc.

You guys are worried about yourself, but they are worried about company's stability and future growth. So calm down brothers and sisters. The good thing is that you have done your web interviews. they will definitely get in touch.

After she attended the BHE, has she been contacted again to see if she had passed or not?. for me i want to believe the merger is causing this. but it wouldnt hurt if BH sends us sort of email to put our minds at ease..we all need some sort of closure. altleast if u knw u haven't passed, as painfull as it may be, u wld try to get over it and move on. Not continue to wait in silence n become anxious all da time.. my status says "interview in progress.". been like dat since mid october .it just doesnt make any sense.
