The relationship between Christianity and politics is a historically complex subject and a frequent source of disagreement throughout the history of Christianity, as well as in modern politics between the Christian right and Christian left. There have been a wide variety of ways in which thinkers have conceived of the relationship between Christianity and politics, with many arguing that Christianity directly supports a particular political ideology or philosophy. Along these lines, various thinkers have argued for Christian communism, Christian socialism, Christian anarchism, Christian libertarianism, or Christian democracy. Others believe that Christians should have little interest or no participation in politics or government.e

In 2010, I officially made known my ambition to document the affairs of National Association of Etim Ekpo(L.G.A) Students, Federal Polytechnic Nekede Chapter in a general congress. A day to the election, I withdrew my intention after many sleepless nights. My reason for withdrawal was that there was no conviction within my spirit man about christianity and politics. This caused a very serious problem within my camp. The serving secretary then handpicked me to be his successor but with no good reasons according to him, I 'disappointed' him. He took it personal. And even keep me at arm's length till I officially tendered my apology to him, the Eleco board and the house at large.

Three years later, 2013 to be precise, I was unanimously appointed(without standing for election) as the Director of Socials, National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students, UNN chapter. By God's grace my performance in the little office prompted many of the members to persuade me to run for the Presidency in the forthcoming election which I harshly said no because in my one year in office as D.O.S, I had series of problems wth people trying to ruin the association. Due to pressure and persuasion from the outgoing President, one of the VP aspirants and the general house I accepted to run but in a lesser role, Gen Sec.
But from what is going on in my mind now, i fear I may disappoint my people once again by giving up before the D' day even when 90% of the house has voiced out that anyone that will oppose me will be frustrated.
Personally, with God continuing to lead me, I'm seeing myself in part-time ministry in the nearest future but I had a great interest in politics as a child. I usually said then that the leadership of my state will one day come to my house. I'm totally confused.

Does christians has any future in politics considering how dirty the game is recently.
Will Politics not make them to lose focus?

Please help me out...

Politics is as 'dirty' as it is because the wrong crop of people are involved in it. Imagine a situation where we have good men dominating politics and 'playing' it the way it should be played.

Christianity has its own share of very upright people who in my view should cultivate a positive interest in politics. If the good ones shy away from politics then we leave the polity in the hands of very bad men. This affects us all.

If you are foolish enough to believe that:

1. A benevolent god created the world then banished the only two human beings that he created from the garden that he created for them because they ate a piece of fruit

2. That same god had to come to the earth as his own son, forcing a young betrothed woman to carry him. Then commit deicide in order that the 'sins' of mankind be forgiven.

Then your judgement should never be trusted.
