i don't get one thing! Nigerians with their plenty noise about GDP big, per capita greater etc, does it make the average Nigerian better than the average Ghanaian? this is just a harmless question. with the way Naija oil revenue dwarfs Ghana's revenue from all sectors, im still wondering why majority of Nigerians arent better than the average Ghanaian. plus this is the worst time for Ghanaians but im sure it still betters that of many Nigerians. |

we are interested in automobile industry and every other sector that will boost our economy instead of over dependence on oil sector. |

If angola like they shud triple their oil production 5 times that of Nigeria. The issue is with d discovery of shale oil which can deliver some of d products crude oil can except 4 some cases, in d nxt 10yrs if care not taking Oil market will be like Gala and fan milk youghurt been hawk on d street. Thank God we are diversifyin into agriculture, FCMG, Technology and Manufacturing in Nigeria but the most painful & shameful act was our leaders who stole the oil money 4 their personal gain. |

brownlord: A lot of what is written here is wrong! Ghana's economy should be at least $50billion if unrecorded economic activity is added. Nigeria's economy is at least $700billion if the same is done. Nigeria's economy may be bigger but Ghana's infrastructure beats Nigeria's hands down. Ghana's fiscal and monetary situation is however worse than ours. The country is perenially losing value. I suspect this is due to the fact that the country practices a more honest democratic system where the incumbent can always be booted out at the ballot. This compels the incumbent government to engage in pre-election spending splurge which leads to subsequent high inflation and a loss in value of the currency. With elections becoming more transparent in Nigeria (Fayose victory in Ekiti comes to mind), a worry on the minds of people is that incumbents may spend recklessly to win votes. Governments may delay or refuse to implement painful but necessary economic reforms in order not to lose votes. This will eventually become a dangerous trend. 1 Like |

I was thinking the same thing. If NIgeria is so great compare to Ghana why are a lot of Nigeriaian student attending schools in Ghana. I personally judge a country well being base on how well that country treats her citizens. I will like someone to tell which of the two countries is better. |

Fit2Rule: I once heard that Ghanaians are the worst mathematicians in the world. Now it's confirmed! Assuming we ignore your country's inability to conduct a reliable census. Going by your figure. Let's look at wealth distribution. Ghana $14,000,000,000 for 24,000,000 gives $583.33. Nigeria $500,000,000,000 for 200,000,000 gives $2,500. The difference is $1916.67. Do you need further explanation dollop head?now best mathematician in the world, reason well and make this comparison...!!! with respect to your post, Ghana's wealth distribution in 2008 was $583.33 as against Nigeria's own of $2500 in 2014...now tell me, of the two, which is better |

Nigeria needs to get back to its agrarian roots. Agriculture alone has the potential to make us a prosperous nation; food for the average Nigerian should be taken for granted, if we utilise our massive landmass which is almost 100% arable. And then of course there is industrialisation which if vigorously pursued can turn us into an India or China in a short period of time. Oil definitely shouldn't be our only major source of income as is the case at the moment, which is our bane in the country today. |
