Breaking News! Half of a Yellow Sun marches gallantly to Number 1 spot at the Nigerian Box Office. It beats Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy (in 2D and 3D), Bad Neighbours, 22 Jump street, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Think Like a Man too.

Friday's closing box office reported that about 8 of the 15 cinemas showing Half of a Yellow Sun indicate a Number 1 spot for the hugely anticipated film. This is significant because the huge marvel/disney film Guardians of the Galaxy starring Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel also got released in multiple viewing formats (2D and 3D), yet Half of a Yellow Sun was a sell out in cinema screens in Ibadan, Abuja, Surulere and Lekki.
