1) Metallurgical and Materials EnginEering and Agricultural Engineers - can become Welders
2) Elect&Elect engineering- can become electricians and IT geeks esp if the person studied communication option..
3) Civil engineering- can become masons, bore hole drillers lol

In my opinion, the aspect of engineering studied doesn't matter cos one can study EEE and learn skills associated with civil engineering. It all depends on passion

I would really love to see the innovation you can START ON YOUR OWN in Petroleum Engineering apart from software development which no one is even willing to look at it

You didn't get his pretty obvious point , Petroleum Engineering is a very capital intensive field and it will be very difficult if not impossible for a sole individual to be self employed in that field no matter how innovative the person is.
Electrical/Systems/Computer/Software Engineers can start things on their own much more easily.

Lol nice question. But on second thought pet engr cud be quiet easy to start up. I mean all you need is a 'drum' and a 'pipe' + matches and firewood!...... U know what I mean!
