omenka: You have summarised it all!!

I keep saying it, United States is one of the biggest headaches of our time. Her disposition towards issues especially as regards world peace and security leaves a very sour taste in the mouth. They have assumed the right to designate a group "terrorist" depending on how you rapport with them and just how much you hurt their interests. They have created such a huge mess in the mideast turning the region into one massive killing field to promote their world depopulation agenda!

US armed groups in Syria and Libya to take down regimes that seem unfriendly towards them but leaning more towards Moscow, now we have two protracted insurrection whose end no one can tell. Thesame US armed the Mujahedeens to take out Russia from Afghanistan and when they tried to operate independent of handouts and orders from Washington, Uncle Sam proscribed the group and labelled it terrorist!

Now we have the crises of the Islamic States on our hands and they seem primed to take over the entire Iraq, and would do so if the US doesn't stop their advancement. There is no gainsaying the fighters were at some point getting support from the US when they fought against Asad. Thesame weapons that were supplied them are the weapons being used to deny Iraqis the right to live!! The US should stop jeopardising chances of peace in the mideast by constantly arming non state actors simply because a regime refuses to be a puppet! The more arms that get into that region, the more volatile it gets!!

Well, for one the US didn't arm ISIS. And it would be nice to stay on topic. ISIS is a menace to the Middle East right now. The foreign policy if the Arab league that have done nothing to intervene as ISIS slaughters Christians and other minorities is even more nauseous in this situation.

The US has made very many foolish mistakes and stupid decisions in the Middle East crisis, but in this one they are doing the right thing.

Truckpusher: I think it should be part of the tactical strategy.

Concentrate a large number of ISIS fighters on Iraqi cities in the west and the borders from Syria while the civilians flee from their onslaught then you use airstrike to ground their incursion further North and use the Iraqi military(infantry) to clean up the mess and finally use the drones to ensure that ISIS do not cross back to Syria where they've maintained a stranglehold on Assad which appears to be a better evil for now.
what will happen if Muslims live in peace

You do have a point, once you stop taking orders from the US there tag u a terrorist, but yet I still prefer the Americans to be in charge of world power right now than any other country, is it russia, China Germany or any other world power you would prefer, Russia has always stood on the side of evil when ever it comes to any other world issue there will just want to oppose the Americans even when there know what there are standing for is wrong, then China there are a one party state when even their own citizens don't have freedom of speech and no practice of democracy, Germany on the other hand have stated two world wars am sure there are just on the side lines for now if given the chance or opportunity there can decide to great chaos in the world again. So looking at all this other world powers I rather have the Americans be in control now than any other world powersm

I beg your pardon sir. How does waiting until your consulate is threatened, after thousands of innocent people have been slained, amount to doing the right thing

If US had not surreptitiously sabotaged the national security of Libya and Syria, along with France, throwing open the gates of the countries' armoury to all manner of groups, IS wouldn't have had access to the kind of military hardware they possess today. US has decided to intervene to save itself from a repeat of the embarrassment it suffered in Bengazi. They are the reason why the Iraqi security force is so depleted the country can't even defend itself against a small legion of armed bandits let alone a highly skilled and motivated army!! They one question I keep asking is: where are the weapons of mass destruction Sadam was sad to have?? Why isn't Bush answering questions at the Hague right now??

The US should stop running away and clean up the mess it created. Ariel bombardment alone wouldn't solve the problem posed by IS. Boots on ground with ariel support will!

It'll be better if people had a bit of up to date background knowledge before comments like...'until their embassy was threatened '

The IS is currently on offensives on many fronts both in Syria and Iraq. The triggering of this air strikes is due to ISIS continued march expelling and committing genocides on minorities and opposing parties.

They have successfully stormed close by towns to the previously safe Erbil and beaten back the Kurdish Peshmerga that were essentially the only capable bulwark against ISIS protecting everyone from the Yazidis,Christians and other minorities.

Right now, ISIS has continued it's genocide and currently has laid a siege to fleeing Yazidis holed up on Mount Sinjar. For days, they've been resupplied by air drops by combined Iraqi,Turkish and American air support. However the situation is now too dire Asus keepsaadvancing hence the air strikes.

If no one stops them before they reach Erbil, there's likely to be a humanitarian disaster that'll see the relatively few minorities (Christians, Yazidis and all) and not forgetting the Kurds would be wiped out or subjected to the whims of these terrorists.

Why are the Iraqi Christians not arming themselves? Why are they allowing these terrorists to bully and massacre them?
