Lesotho said on Friday they have pulled out of this weekend’s final 2015 African Youth Championship against Nigeria because of concerns about an outbreak of Ebola in the country.
“We have contacted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and copied the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that we will not be coming for this game,” said Lesotho Football Federation official Limtho Mokhethi.
The Senegalese officials appointed for the under-20 game have already arrived in the northern Nigeria city of Kaduna, where the match was to have been played.
African football’s governing body CAF will now have to decide on the overall winners of the final qualifier, as a second leg in Lesotho is not expected to take place.
The 2015 African Youth Championship will be played in Senegal from March 8.

Prio to this breaking news, the Flying Eagles officials have said earliar that they are ready to take on surprise team Lesotho in the final round of qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship (AYC) in Senegal.
Nigeria was billed to host the Southern Africans on August 16 (this Saturday ) in a first leg clash with the return slated for Lesotho two weeks later.
Flying Eagles stopped Tanzania 6-1 on aggregate, while Lesotho edged past much-fancied Angola 4-1 after two legs.
Which was expected to see the fying eagle re-enarct their U17 feat.
But with this development what is the feat of the like of Iheanacho, Yahaya and the Nwakalis

Manu Garba’s side have booked a place in next year’s African Youth Championship after walking over their South African opponent that were scared away by Ebola virus

Nigeria U-20 side have secured a ticket to participate in 2015 African Youth Championship billed to hold in Senegal.

The Flying Eagles walked over Lesotho on Saturday after the south African side failed to show up due to fear of deadly Ebola virus.

Meanwhile, coach of the Nigeria side Manu Garba has expressed his disappointment following the late minute pull out of their opponents.

"Congratulations Nigeria on this qualification,” said coach Manu Garba.

"We trained very hard in the last two months for this match and we would really have been a lot happier had we qualified for the AYC on the pitch and not in the boardroom.

"It was a bit of a disappointment that Lesotho failed to turn up, but there was nothing we could have done about that, he concluded.

With this development, Nigeria will now battle with seven other countries for a place in next year's Fifa U-20 World Cup to be staged in New Zealand.
