Actor Chidi Mokeme has been quite vocal these days on social/political issues. This morning he took to social media to slam recent suggestions by members of the national conference for the creation of 18 additional new states in Nigeria.

Every family should create thier own state and start recieving allocation

The suggestion for the creation of the 18new states is probably the worst idea of the decade.

This is simply a means for more people to participate in cake shearing . 27 states means 27 pieces of cake 80 states means 80 pieces of cake and 80 people chopping the cake. Its not about the common man, its about over loading the danfo so that driver and conductor can see more money not neccesarily to help the passangers. Yes I will not deny that in the process passangers will get a chance to enter the bus and get home but he could still get home if there was good planning and adequate provission of infastructure without having to be packed like sardines in a can.

All these state creation is born out of incompetence of the leaders. So a particular group will feel left out and demand to be their own boss and ask to be given state status. If the national cake was shared well, we will not have all these wahala. Judging by corruption level we have in naija, even a million states will not solve the problem, it will only ygive us 1 million purses to criticise.

POLITICAL ADVANTAGES OF STATES CREATION HE DOESN'T KNOW

1) It will separate minority ethnic groups from majority ethnic groups. This will increase the political influence of minority ethnic groups causing a change in Nigeria's politics
Eg We won't be seeing scenarios where a single ethno-religious group will hold the country ransom because a new policy do not favour them

2) In 20yrs to come, these minority ethnic groups will support weak central(true federalism) because they tend to believe in themselves than some majority ethnic groups that have failed to learn to survive outside federal powers

It is our political-economic system that have made them weak.

When we practice true federalism, every states will be forced to develop her resources.

In exploiting their natural human technological business etc resources, labour will be employed. This will cause wealth to trickle down to the common

Eg imagine Kano state developing her agriculture. Labour will be employed causing wealth in form of salaries/ incomes reaching the ordinary citizens

But oil money given to Kano is an already developed wealth that do not need any labour to exploit. Since it needs no labour to exploit, the citizens will have no means of exchanging their labour of strength and brain for money. This leads to unemployment resulting to poverty

Creating more tribes and taking more steps back into the stone. Divide Nigeria into nuclear family units with the pervading concept,they will still don't know what to do.

Creation of more states = Cluelessness.

All those who attended that confab are truely clueless instead of them to think of how to make these country better and more developed they went to make more arrangements of how to loot more money I don't know what we need 18 more states for we have not finish developing the 36 we have . Even America don't have up to 54 states
