Do you know you have to verify the name of the consignee on the Bill of Laden among custom papers when buying a tokunbo and also ascertain that he or she authorizes the sale of such car with which his/her name appears as consignee on the custom papers? The authorization of the sale could be in form of Sales Authority as To Whom It May Concern to authorize the sales person. With this Sales Authority the sales person can take the charge of the car sale and the transaction is Legal.

The Sales Authority may also be in form of Sworn Affidavit by the consignee to the sales person. Affidavit is more legal and accepted.

If the consignee is a company name, make sure u get the company's sales receipt through the company authorized personnel and pay into the company's bank account. Making your car purchase transaction due diligent saves you unforeseen troubles after purchase. And it also makes your investment on such car a secure one.

This little fact is very important to make your purchase legal and genuine, but many consumers are not well informed and ignorance is not an excuse.
