Divorce Settlement In Nigeria. Your Opinion.. by Nobody: 9:33am On Aug 26, 2014 |
A divorce settlement is an arrangement, adjustment, or other understanding reached, as in financial or business proceedings between two adults who have chosen to divorce . It serves as the final legal agreement between these adults for documenting the terms of their divorce. A divorce settlement entails which spouse gets what property and what responsibilities once the marriage is over. "It deals with child custody and visitation, child support, alimony, health and life insurance, real estate, cars , household items, bank accounts , debts , investments , retirement plans and pensions , college tuition for children, and other items of value, such as frequent flyer miles and country club memberships. Conditions regarding tax payments, legal names, and provisions for modifying the agreement may also be included." that's Wikipedia stuff.... okay, with the way men treat women here these days (like that Nigerian actor marrying another woman without the wife's knowledge), do you think adding this to our law will curb it..? if yes, why is it that our female law makers have not made any moves on it? major concern is abuse of d law, but der z room 4 pre- nuptial agreement too.... basically the question is.. divorce settlement in Nigeria, to be or not to be... your opinion |

sexyexcalibur: This is because most women have nothing to offer a man except nagging and sex which he can easily get else where. Also a man can easily get a maid to do all what a house wife will do without any emotional attachment. Most men marry because of societal pressure. I will personally make sure my son doesn't marry if divorce settlement is introduced in Nigeria. 1 Like |

OP, this smells like a Nigeria-bashing thread. However, I'd have you know that Nigeria has divorce/divorce settlement provisions in its constitution. Acquaint yourself with them and you may attract edifying discourse on the topic. 1 Like |
