…. Kill 27 Boko Haram members
Cameroon said its military has killed 27 suspected Boko Haram militants who attacked areas where 480 Nigerian troops had crossed over during a battle with the insurgents.
Nigeria said the troops crossed over while making a tactical maneuver.
Cameroon’s state radio reports government troops beat back two attempts by suspected Boko Haram militants to enter the country’s northern territory through a locality that shares a boundary with Nigeria’s Borno state, stronghold of the militant group.
During a confrontation Tuesday, the soldiers killed 11 insurgents while 16 more were killed in an earlier attack on Monday.
Cameroonian soldiers seized heavy weapons and destroyed one of the vehicles the militants were using.
After the attacks, Cameroon’s state radio announced that the country’s president, Paul Biya, ordered that the Nigerian soldiers be escorted back to their country.
“The head of state has instructed that the columns of Nigerian soldiers who entered Cameroonian territory should be camped in specific locations and supervised by the Cameroonian army. The Nigerian soldiers have been provided feeding, medical treatment and fuel on instructions of the head of state. At the same time the process of accompanying the Nigerian soldiers back to their country is under way under Cameroonian military escort,” the state radio quoted an unnamed source as saying on Wednesday.
Col. Didier Badjeck, a Cameroon military spokesman, told VOA that allegations made in Cameroonian media that the incidence was a defection were unfounded, but added that they were particularly careful over the presence of the Nigerian soldiers as Boko Haram militants could also disguise as a regular army and attack them.

National shame.
Even though this man is a dictator but he is a far more sensible dictator than this nigerian government
Last year, the man repatriated many of those fake pastors orr should I say pastorpreneurs and closed down their churches in Cameroun .
Those churches include many of the usual suspects.

THE greatest threat facing the nation’s war against the Boko Haram and other Islamist insurgents has to do with the unprecedented acts of sabotage that the national assignment is facing. Never at any other time in the history of Nigeria had the army been so bedeviled by internal and external undermining of efforts to rid the country of terrorists and other enemies of her unity and progress.
The sabotage comes in so many forms. It is both within and outside the confines of the armed forces. According to media reports, some military officers with sympathy for the cause of the insurgents sometimes reportedly divulge critical information about the plans of the military to undertake campaigns or even funnel military equipment to their partisans in the enemy camp. This, we learnt, has led to the unceremonious cancellation of such campaigns to avoid putting officers and men in danger of running into ambushes.
One of the greatest forms of the sabotage is misinformation. Many sympathisers of Boko Haram are very eager to approach, mainly, the foreign media to say uncomplimentary things about our armed forces . They create an impression of Boko Haram as an invincible force and Sambisa, their chosen camp, as an impregnable fortress. It is this misinformation and the subsequent avoidable losses in men and military material that give rise to the tales of real or imagined “mutinies” and protests among our men under arms.
The military high command, as well as their supervisory political authorities, must take firm steps to discourage acts of sabotage against our men and women confronting the terrorists. We are fully in support of the assurance by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Kenneth Minimah, that the army will henceforth go tough on saboteurs and visit them with the strictest dictates of the law when nabbed and convicted of the crime.
We are also gratified to note that army is on the verge of taking delivery of sophisticated equipment. It will surely boost morale among the troops and spur them to greater effort to flush the terrorists out of Nigeria.
We call on the mass media to redouble their efforts and throw their full support for the armed forces. More efforts should be made to de-emphasise the dissemination of sensational and unsubstantiated information because we may be unwittingly playing into the hands of the terrorists. It is important for media houses to take a closer hold of their online editions and minimise their use by the terrorists and their supporters to achieve their evil purposes.
The war on terror is not for the army, security agencies or the federal government alone. It is a collective effort. We must report suspected saboteurs to the appropriate authorities and keep our communities safe.

Guy,join the army and pick up arm if u feel u can do better....its a natural thing to run for cover when faced with overwhelming fire power.

Go and watch documentaries about the best militaries and their operations.you'll realise the kind of air and tactical support and assistance they give to their soldiers.even their assault rifles are more sophisticated than ours. Check out the american M4A1 assault rifle for example,it has a sniper scope that can help u take out an enemy from a distance where he(d enemy) can only try his luck at hitting you.

Here they'll give you a Kalashnikov with 2 magazines and ask you to go and face 20mm calibre machine guns....what do u expect? angry

It's hard to be nice around here.
The idiocy is something else.
Poor soldiers fought all the way into cameroun in pursuit of terrorists and the camerounian army is only doing the right thing per military protocol to escort them back into the country and all they get for risking their lives for Nigeria is abuse.
The citizens of our dear country do not deserve martyrs and heros.

I just found details about their return - and it's hysterical.

Also, after watching that channel 4 video, I honestly don't feel sorry for these savagely Nigerian military plonkers - there's absolutely no difference between them and Boko Haram, to be honest. Just cowardly savages fighting Islamic savages!

Excerpts from the article about their return:

Cameroonian authorities have repatriated about 480 Nigerian troops who had previously fled into the country after a fierce gun battle with Boko Haram insurgents. They arrived in the country through Mubi, Adamawa State.

A resident of the town (name withheld) told the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that the troops arrived in Mubi, some with guns and some without guns while others were with armoured personnel carriers (APC).

The agency reported that "the troops were fed in Mubi Barracks; some of them were still in military fatigue while others were on vest".

Sources say the returning soldiers looked unkempt and disheveled, wearing torn uniform as they went to the popular side of the Mubi market to buy second-hand clothes popularly called "Gwanjo" to replace their torn clothes.

A resident, Joseph Baba, said: "We saw some of them purchasing second-hand clothes at the Mubi main market and were in torn uniforms.

Another resident said some of the returning soldiers were seen wearing short knickers while others were injured.
