I must comend the workers local and expatraite combatting this deadly disease.May Their gallant efforts not go unrewarded.

That said, why is our minister of health sounding so unproffesional in this matters, one would expect as a Dr he would know better.

The Epidemic threshold for a disease such as this is 1.meaning when u record a single case,u put all your emmergency preparedness gig into full swing. Now is not the time to be saying we have "only one case left",one case is a big deal, because it means they are more unreported in the community.that's basic epidemiology.

Can anyone shed light to the statement attributed to this same ministry that ebola 1.9 b is released to the ministry for expenses and not for ebola in particular so will be used to procure other items since there was just one case left?

In the spirit of tranparency and common good, can the ministry pls give us a list of treatment/emmergency preparedness center for all states equipped evidenced with pictures and staffed...

We shouldn't joke with preparedness, that's the stage to make a real change in the statistics. And All states must be prepared, don't let your pple become data for ebola.

and waht is with the people who believe all what their pastor told them also the lie that all nigerians who fast for 100 days at the beginning of this year will not get Ebola!

I would say it is better to follow MSF (Doctors without Border) because they know it best. They know what a country has to do.

Are ecowas members this cruel? Why is it that they always escape from quarantine? Btw, which kind useless quarantine is that that people will be escaping and infecting others?

Looks like there is some misinformation still going on. The deceased appears to have passed through a number of hospitals before reaching good heart. There is this alleged one in D/line; hope the River State government is also isolating those ones.

This latest outbreak is going to test the ability of the federal govt. to fighting this disease because the number of possible contacts now outnumber that of Lagos. The Lagos cases were managed well due to the fast response of the state govt. But I fear the seriousness of the Rivers govt. with the initial denial by their commissioner.

Please who is this doctor ?
He has put the life of a lot of people at risk and has cost the government millions or billions of Naira.
Unfurtunately he is dead but i recommend a long jail term for the diplomat and survivors of acts like his.
The doctor did not know he was treating an Ebola patient

Who are dese ecowas staffs dat are harbingers of evil in dis country, are dey insane or wat? It beats my imagination when som1 tries to evade treatment dat could save his/her life. He thought it wise to go into hiding and refuse to be quarantined and be publicly labelled an ebola patient. Hez stupiidity and selfishness has caused d spread of d virus.
I believe its the public stigmatization of d virus due to its nature that's making them refuse to get isolated and prefer to be treated on personal basis.

Rotimi Amaechi is a crook and a thief and also an APC member which translates to him being an attention seeker. I said previously in the other thread that until yesterday/early this morning, there was no digital print of any hospital or Dr by the names mentioned.
I have said once or twice that healthcare in Rivers state is above average compared to what I have seen around. Private hospitals are in constant rivalry amongst themselves to outdo each other. The public hospitals are not left behind and a certain private hospital and so called specialist doctor operating in Rivers state are not listed anywhere until yesterday. Kai! Amaechi is in dire need of some action from that N1.9b. Crook that he is, he has to lie his way through. Tua!

udohjaphet: so is it politicized as in BOKOHARAM
My friends this port harcourt case is highly politicized. Reading through the post of a lot of us here tells me how gullible and ignorant the average Nigerian is. Governor Amaechi will do anything to show the world how popular he is in Rivers state. The Ebola alarm is meant to stop the TAN rally scheduled for Saturday in port harcourt.
The rivers commissioner for health until this morning boastfully tells whoever cares to listen that there is no Ebola case in rivers. Yet the same man some hours later is telling us a suspected carer died of the virus after being watched for a week. And that about 100 more are still being observed.
Is it a mere coincidence that the APC is telling jonathan to stop the TAN rally of Saturday. Reason: Ebola outbreak in Port harcourt. Nigerians read in between the line. Amaechi as usual is playing politics with a matter as serious as Ebola.
Amaechi time wil tell!
Re: Two Ebola Cases Confirmed In Port Harcourt. by soulglo: 8:09pm On Aug 28, 2014
Nigeria needs to make it a criminal offense to hide Ebola patients. The doctor who passed it to the one who died had to have known he had Ebola. He ran to Port Harcourt instead and now we have a bigger problem.

When the Doctor died, his colleagues in the normal Nigerian way went to visit the wife who works in radiology dept of UPTH. The doctors who went to visit, now all of them are in isolation. This should be a lesson to many; always take a step back and observe. Personally UPTH should be declared a contaminated zone and only essential personnel should be allowed there. UNIPORT should be under observation.
