Military Pensioners Gearing Up For A Show Down With The Federal Government by Okpuzu01(m): 7:51am On Aug 29, 2014
Military pensioners are gearing up for a showdown with the federal government over unpaid 3yrs pension arrears, implementation of their 53% percent increament and harmonization of their pension as stipulated in the constitution of the Fedral Republic of Nigeria. The vetrans had in the past weeks laid siege at Aso Rock Abuja to press home their demands. War casualties as well as the aged vetrans came out in their large nos asking for their legitimate and constitutional right. Govt have been making promises to them for the past 3yrs without fullfilling any of them. They lamented the preferrence giving to the Niger Delta militants while neglecting them that fought for the unity of this nation where democrazy strives today. You could see some of them with various degrees of injuries sustained in a military operations, others were carried on a wheel chairs to the protest venues. They also accused the federal government of being insensivity towards their plights by paying each delegate at the National confab a whopping sum of 4 million per month while those who toiled and put their lives on the lifeline for the unity of the country are left to suffer and die. They have resolved to come out on the 10 Sept 2014 to stage another protest in Abuja wich will be followed shortly by a national protest in the 36 states. My question is this, does it mean there is no money to pay these old men who committed their youthful age serving their father land? Do govt want all of them to die before they heed to their calls and do the right thing? A stich in time saves nine.
