Ahmed Godane, the leader of the Somali militant group Al-Shabaab, has been killed in a U.S. military operation, the Pentagon said on Friday. Regarded as one of Africa's most brutal terror operatives, Godane, who pledges allegiance to Al-Qaeda and who is said to have links with the leaders of Nigeria's Boko Haram, is suspected of having masterminded the recent Westgate Mall attack in Kenya.
