Boko Haram Sponsor: Ihejirika Finallyreacts, Gives Reasons For The Allegation by Nobody: 3:29pm On Sep 06, 2014 |
The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejika, has described the allegation of sponsorship of the Boko Haram sect leveled against him by Dr. Stephen Davis as frivolous and unfounded. He said the careless allegation was meant to divert the attention of the country and its security agencies and also divide the country along religion and ethnic lines. In a chat with journalists at the National Defence College, Abuja on Friday, Ihejirika warned against giving undue attention to the Australian’s claims. He suggested that such allegation would have been dismissed if it was made in a developed country like the United States or the United Kingdom. The ex-Army boss added that some people considered his handling of the counter insurgency campaign high-handed, saying he owed such people no apologies. His words: “If this accusation was made in a country like US or UK, it would not be discussed for one hour because they would wave it aside. But they are exploiting our traditional fault lines, a multi-religious multi ethnic, multi-cultural and young democracy, so what they have tried to do is aimed at achieving what they could not achieve. I have chosen to do this because we cannot allow national security to be toyed with; the need for security awareness in spite of the effort I put in at time and the effort being put by the current leadership of the Armed Forces, the need for security awareness still persists.” “I want to urge all Nigerians to join hands to support Mr. President and members of the Armed Forces in their onerous task to rid this country of terrorism. I want to further advise that baseless, unfounded and frivolous allegations like this have the capacity of diverting our attention, away from the main problem. Nigeria must exist before you can hold a single political office and there is no compromise in the effort to have a peaceful and united Nigeria. Therefore, I have no apologies at all whatsoever to those who thought I was high handed. “I used to explain to them that the Nigerian Army is not high handed, but every Army makes a lot of efforts to ensure that its troops operate within the rule of engagement.” Ihejirika recalled that his leadership recruited 9000 soldiers in 2013 to beef up the strength of the military and to monitor the borders more effectively. He urged Nigerians to avoid utterances that could bring down the morale of Nigerian troops, a situation which he warned, could be dangerous. The retired senior officer pointed out that terrorists were waging a media warfare to achieve what they had not achieved through violence. He further reiterated that he remained unshaken by the attention given to the allegation because of his belief that “we are yet to come to terms with the motives of the terrorists and their desire to bring this nation down”. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=185269&cpage=1 10 Likes

Hey open your eyes and think deeply about this issue. This isn't a cooked up story to destroy the personality of this Gen. Can you pls answer these questions: Why has the presidency denied appointing this man Davis? He (Davis) came to Nigeria on his own to negotiate with the BH? How did he met with the BH to the point of taking pictures? Let's stop being fooled by the government. 4 Likes |

He suggested that such allegation would have been To the ignorant and globally unexposed retired general, Australia is a developed country. And unlike Nigeria and the DDS where they exonerate jokers like you before investigation, the FBI is not a political organization, they don't run political errands for politicians, they do their, they investigate. The FBI just successfully prosecuted a corruption case against a sitting governor just 2 days ago and the governor is going to jail for decades.. When was the last time your EFCC or DDS sent any governor to jail especially under this most corrupt and looting government? We have military and defense intelligence under the same general, but he still can not tell us who is behind boko haram, he still can not detect or see BH approaching and destroying his military bases, he still can not tell us who is behind BH even with the $6 billion he pockets every year, the military he left is weaker and poorly equipped than what he met upon taking command, the same military is losing territory to terrorists everyday. In the same developed countries the clueless general is talking about wont retire him, they'll kick him out with dishonorable discharge, they wont have the FBI defending him. Jokers like this incompetent general only have mouth in a lawless and banana country like Nigeria.. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Noted. 1. If it were the countries he mentioned, they'd have probe into the matter and not just dismiss the allegations. 2. High placed individuals are involved in treasons in such countries and are brough to book. 3. He should have dared the Australian to bring forth evidence. 4. The threat to the northerners have been noted "Nigeria must exist before you can hold a single political office". |

It's not even Bokoharam's fault this time around, it's Davis's fault. Please nobody should blame Bokoharm or Ihejirika. Davis was so stupid to believe that a terrorist group would release the names of their funders so easily. If you have been following the whole saga, you would notice that Davis integrity has been compromised. The man is just a greenhorn to believe what he heard from bokohoram. In my own opinion, i think Davis should be sued to court or tender an apology. In as much as the terrosists are not tired of fighting or ready to give up their arms, they will never release the names of their funders but if it's true, then vicotry is NEAR. 1 Like |

I'm not saying the General is guilty of the accusation Davies has made against him, neither I'm I saying he is not. But there circumstances under which terrorists may gibe up names of their sponsors freely. The number one condition is that they have had a fall out in relationship or arrangement between them and the sponsors/sponsor. They feel the sponsor has betrayed them, therefore may give up the name of the sponsor/sponsors as a way of getting back at him/them. This happened a lot during the cold war between the West and USSR. |

Giving them sensitive information or facilating their operations in anyway is Alao part of it. The terrorist may even be paying huge money for these services. |
