Is It Safe To Stop/cancel A Factory Reset On A Laptop It's Taking Too Long? by Emyo(m): 4:54pm On Sep 06, 2014
Is it safe to stop/cancel a factory reset on a
laptop when it's taking waaaay too long?
Hi! I just got a new laptop today! smiley
Unfortunately, though, the only laptop left for
the model I wanted was a store sample, which was
fine with me, but the workers there said I could
do a factory reset so the little stuff that they
had on there would be gone (there was nothing on
it, they had only just used it for the first time in
the morning).
I chose the option for the full (? I'm not sure of
the name, whichever one was supposed to take
longer) factory reset. Like, I knew it would take
some time, but this is just ridiculous. It's only
going up by about 1% per 45 minutes or so--I'm
pretty sure it hasn't froze (it went up to 23% a
few minutes ago). Thing is, it'll take me days
before I can even use the laptop!
I want to try and use the shorter factory reset
(I should have just done that in the first place :c)
. I'm a bit apprehensive to do the force shut-
down (by holding down the power button) in this
scenario, though. Could it possibly harm the
laptop in any way if I cancel the system restore?
Thank you so much~! smiley
