.... And thats one of the many reasons why he needs to visit the frontline .

A commander-in-chief shouldnt be afraid of going to territories under his control, unless, perhaps, those territories arent really under is control

What do you doubt? That the war is on-going or the military is winning?

Of course the war is still going on. You doubt the military is winning? For what reason? When you hear/read here and there were over-taken by terrorists, they are all unconfirmed reports and propaganda to ruin the military. Even residents have confirmed over again that the terrorists are the ones retreating and slaughtered.

I'm done on this thread.

When your men are winning the war. The C-in-C should provide more ammunition and military back-up and pay their salary when due. Meanwhile, he can be tackling other needs of the nation.

Multi-tasking if you ask me.

A COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.
part of your territory was excised from you, you claim your army has 'recaptured' that territory yet you are afraid of going there?

The Op made a comparison with President Poroshenko of Ukraine who visited Mariopul, an area still partially under rebel control; yet he visted his troops to boost their spirit and morale. Why cant our own president do the same.

There are thousands of displaced persons in the NorthEast right about now. Why cant the president visit their 'refugee camps'

You can call it insensivity to plight of distressed Nigerians.
But I would really call it insesivity if his troops are doing nothing to curb Boko Haram insurgency and he isn't providing shelter and financial back-ups to these victims of insurgency.

Pure nonsense, this should not be coming from you

tuhorns:
The insecurity up North at the moment is too much for a whole President-Boko haram's arch enemy, to visit. Perhaps they are even trying to draw him out and assasinate him?
General Aguiyi Ironsi made the wrong decision in 1966 by touring up North in a time insecurity and suspicion were high.
Like i said earlier this guy will campaign in the north east in 2015

mikeansy: boko haram will know before he gets there!

The Ukranian President can visit without the rebels knowing

our President does not have that luxury because too many fifth columnists in his government!
The same ones he's travelling The world with?

By then, our military must have successfully run the terrorists over.

Op common son, do you really want to start comparing the Ukrainian situation to ours? Did you even for once take into cognizance the disparity of loyalty and security of confidence been commanded by both presidents...its a wide berth...on one side we have an army that reposes its unconditional loyalty to the government, and is ready to defend the integrity of its people, territory, and government to the last man, while on the other side is an army addled with moles and reagents with self-serving interest(fifth columnist) as a poster aptly put it...the moment Jonathan announces his presence at the war front...that is when you will discover some elements could go as far as leading him into an ambush to be snuffed out by waiting insurgents.

Keep explaining away GEJ ingrained cowardice!Ukraine is literally a country divided against itself, and the army in Ukraine also has people from disputed territory who are in it, yet the Poroshenko a brave man went to the front lines without any fear whatsoever.
