There are strong indications from several quarters that the former commissioner for finance and one of the governorship aspirants from Uyo senatorial district in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Bassey Albert, is contemplating a withdrawal from the 2015 gubernatorial race.
Mr. Albert who along with some elders of the Ibibio ethnic nationality recently organised a reception in honour of the former governor of the State, Obong Victor Attah, received the shocker of his life when the ex-governor went against their expectations, to declare his endorsement for power shift in the state to Eket senatorial district.
It is reported that Bassey Albert was furious and down-casted when Attah proclaimed in his speech that “sequential logic avails Eket senatorial district an opportunity to produce the next governor of the State, since Uyo and Ikot Ekpene districts have already taken their shots”
An insider source in Mr. Albert’s camp informed newsmen that the former finance boss left the event fuming in anger with a key member of his campaign organization on whose advice the decision to receive Obong Attah was reached, saying the reception was counterproductive to his aspiration.

As ibibio man, i am strongly in support of eket senatorial district to produce d next governor but shld come from Oron. Ibibio,annang hv produced governors oron shld be given a chance too, it is dia turn. Attah zoned it to annang akpabio benefited if akpabio denies oron dia chance history shal not 4give him and his children.

how has oron bin marginalised?
the last 2 ministers from akwa ibom are from oro nation.the largest seaport bin built though at slow space is in oro nation.part of akwa ibom int'l airport is in okobo which is in oro nation.maritime academy which will soon be converted to a famous varsity is in oron.now tell me,which federal presence do we have in eket federal constituency?
when we talk about marginalisation,pls clearly explain it out.thanks

@michealaustin,eket,ibeno and esit eket has never been part of ibibio either by language,tradition n culture,so i dont know how u got ur info that eket is ibibio,they are not.
dont forget that oro nation has produced a deputy governor in etim okpoyo and several ambassador.ikot abasi and mkpat have also produced several deputy governors,i.e ekpotu,nsima ekere,valery ebe as well as a senator in the person of sen udoma and other guys.
so eket is even the most marginalised.except u mention one project in ekid nation
