As at 2011,news had it that about 80% of first class &2:1 holders that sat for the aptitude test for NNPC failed.

These are one of the bottle neck we have in Nigeria labor market, when emphases is been laid on the class of degree.
take a look at third class holder in their in their job when employed, they perform better,
Also look at notable persons who have achieved in their career some are third class holders.
Some news have it that a one time MD/CEO that turned the fortunes of UBA was a third class product, wole and others just to mention but a few.

This is mostly conjecture. Certainly unproven. You can't judge a group of people because of what happened in one test, with a relatively handful of people from the group.

@op... You are surely a third class student or graduate as the case may be if not pass. Let me first start from your topic: it was a poor sentence construction. What is 'THIRDS CLASS'? It should have been 'third class graduates perform better than most first class, second class(Upper and Lower) graduates'. Don't get me started on your post. It was full of error.

Back to your analysis: It was a fallacy called hasty generalisation. You used a single case(which was unsubstantiated) to generalise on all cases. You said 80 percent of first class and 2.1 graduates that wrote the test fail, what about the remaining 20 percent(first class and 2.1 graduates)? Are they not first class and 2.1 graduates? You also committed another fallacy called the use of bad analogy. If you want to compare first class or 2.1 graduates with third class graduates, you must use a good analogy( a case where first class and 2.1 graduates fail while third class graduates excel). You are just trying to give yourself hope and boost your self worth and self esteem.

Let me also use this opportunity to educate you that Wole Soyinka made 2.1 not third class http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/i-made-second-class-upper-soyinka/
