If staffs are well-paid and taken good care of by their employers, employees wouldn't do such. Unless, of course, man's insatiable hunger for more money.

The dude probably emptied the bank's account, and that's pretty ruthless.

OLAplusONE: Even if the theft was done on a sunday sef, don't they have daytime security men working on ground, I think there are many people involved in this saga. But really that's a hell lot of money. Alert don enta...LOL

Security men work outside the banking hall so thy need not suspect their 'oga' who comes every now and then to work on weekends just like any other member of staff.

However, this guy isn't the only criminal here. Too big a task to be covered up by one person.

People who get paid 1m per month still steal. It's not about money, it's about greed.

You are correct, most of these IT guys (not industrial attachment ooo) are contract staff in most bank and they are now easy prey for fraudsters. How can banks expect to cut cost by using contract staff as system engineers.
As the saying goes: "If you keep looking for ways to pay peanuts; you will soon end up employing monkeys"

Their is no excuse for stealing sha. Please don't ever steal from a bank you will be caught. The money no be bank own grin

This guy wanted to cripple S*** Bank. The bank has a weak internal control for allowing just a single person to authorize transaction worth that amount.

These days internal fraud by bank staff are becoming incessant, and amount lost are high. Even contract bank Tellers are no exception.

Thief,ole,barawo banza.

IT staff is a contract staff.

Blame the banks who pay such staff N50k or N60k per month..

But a thief is still a thief..

The dude is probably out of Nigeria . And the cash withdrawn. If he did a wire transfer to countries like Mexico, Turkey. Then the money is long gone. Untraceable.

gabriel212: imagine ow corruption had set her base in this country?
and some people calling him smart without evaluating the effect on the employment and economy for it discourage organisation to promote Nigerians beyond certain level and discourage investment or expansion in the country.
so y should we blame company who employed Indians or Chinese to manage her portfolio when we have Nigerians that can do the job but at the coy risk?
yet ppl we call our govt corrupt.
dat shud nt b use as an excuse nt to employ Nigerians, there must surely b bad eggs in d midst of gud ones, so discard ur statement.

QMark: That was huge!

It's a case of thief thief thieves. The banks plunder kobos and a few nairas everyday from accounts of millions of Nigerians so it's good they get a taste of their own medicine. A bank did it to me recently and I pray they r the affected bank. Uwi nehi!
