Good day,

I'm a linux novice and interested in the Kali distro for my CEH course. I'd like to meet individuals who are on this course as well for insight.
Also, I have successfully setup a dual-boot with Win 7 and on the linux I have been able to resolve my wireless adapter challenge but on running some command like the 'wifite' I'm not getting my desired result. On skimming through the web I realized I may need an external USB wireless adapter. I want to know if that's all or did I miss something during the OS installation? Also, which adapter do you recommend I get? smiley

I cannot say how grateful I am for all anticipated reply. cool

Now back to our discourse my brother from another mother cool
To create a bootable USB download and run "Rufus".
After creating it I discovered it doesn't still run properly after booting through the USB so to beat it just open the flash and double-click the setup there. It will do some magic and ask you to restart your PC. Leave the flash in and reboot...and it starts install through the USB smiley
Please backup your files and have you created the partition for the linux?

I have not tried the 32bit though. It could work.
I'm waiting for feedback grin

Thanks bro..i realy do appreciate ya comment.. I have downloaded several USB 0S boot creator...but still;the system couldnt recognize the usb as a bootable device after making it the first priority from the bios setup..also clicking the setup file doesnt seem to work for me maybe its because am using win8.. When i download the 32bit and as well as the file u recomend.. Then if same still happens,i think illd av to go with virtualbox.. Or beta still meet somewhere in Lagos so you could lend me your's(i mean ur bootable Usb). Where in Lasgidi do you stay?

Yes, you'd need an external wireless device (Alfa card is ur best bet) when installed as a virtual machine otherwise run Kali Linux as a standalone and ensure that your wireless card support packets injection for wireless pentesting.

Most mobile hotspot is WPA2 protected which you'd need a word list for a dictionary attack otherwise you'd need to perform a brute-force attack which takes longer time depending on the password strength. I suggest you crack ur first wireless network by deliberately using the WEP protection on ur hotspot or router to get the satisfaction.

I use Rosa Image writer on Linux though. It has no limitiation on creating bootable USB in my exoerience using it.

If you are interested search for Nigeria Linux User Group on telegram, a forum where all things Linux is discussed.
