Toyota plans rural push to rev up sales of compact cars!

The local unit of Toyota Motor in New Delhi is planning to expand marketing focus on rural India to shore up sales of its sluggish compact models, following the successful strategy of rivals Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor which sell a sizeable number of their small cars in the hinterlands.

"India is a vast market and to capitalise on the extensive model offerings, we have embarked on a new strategy to go rural. We have chosen our compact model Liva that is an ideal product with a right price and packaging for the Indian rural customers' looking for high-value preposition."

Toyota has enrolled its dealers to kick off village roadshows, with emphasis on the carmaker's vehicle quality and service. The company that has more than 250 dealerships across India has plans to start more rural outlets in coming months. Toyota estimates the Indian passenger vehicle market to double to around five million units by 2020, and a significant amount of the demand to come from towns and rural markets.

Fresh from the clay modeling studios, Infiniti is about to show this amazing new concept called the Q80 Inspiration at the Paris Motor Show. Best of all though, the concept has been designed with intent to put it into mass production.
Here's the quick tour of their idea: Mercedes sells a lot of CLS-Class four-door coupes and they make the brand stronger because they're so cool. So using its own design know-how, the company is going to put its own huge four-door into production and is calling it a Q80. Its name suggests this is actually their much-anticipated flagship, sitting abouve the Q70 that replaced the M sedan.
The Japanese luxury brand certainly isn't pulling any punches in the size department either. Overall, this concept measures 5,052 millimeters (198.9 inches) long, 2,027 mm (79.8 in) wide and 1,350 mm (53.1 in) tall. That's right, it's noticeably bigger than both the Mercedes CLS and the Audi A7, both of which stop before they reach 5 meters.

Continental’s Tyre Pressure Monitoring System of the future will feature sensors that are embedded beneath the tread. These can then monitor how much tread a tire has left on it because of gradual changes in the way the tire rolls. What the sensor is actually doing is constantly checking variations in the way the tire deforms as it turns. The computer that it feeds information to continually compares this with information accumulated from numerous trials in its data bank.

When the new Toyota Rav4 launched last year, it failed to break new technological ground and people found its exterior pretty conventional. And yet, it managed to be one of the best-selling vehicles in the compact SUV category. When it came time to refresh the Rav4, Toyota brass thought it best to use the same recipe—and they thought right.

At the time, some folks decried the changes, which included doing away with the V6 engine and third row of seats, replacing its side-hinged rear door with a hatchback (a move that brought it in line with the other models on the market) and bidding farewell to the spare tire affixed to the back of the vehicle. In short, the new version had nixed all the characteristics that had set it apart from the competition. The result was a much more conventional configuration. But at the end of the day, the sales figures prove that Toyota knew exactly what it was doing. The latest Rav4 is the most popular yet.
