The Unity Party of Nigeria, (UPN), Ogun State chapter, has described as unthinkable, the ‘confession’ of Senator Ibikunle Amosun that he (Amosun) in connivance with some other people lied about the state of origin of the former governor of the state, Chief Gbenga Daniel.

Nigerian Tribune recalled that Amosun, had on Wednesday, in Odeda area of the state, told supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), that Daniel is not an indigene of Sagamu as claimed ,prior to the 2003 general election.

The party, in a statement made available to the newsmen in Abeokuta and signed by its chairman, Olufemi Soluade, noted that the governor act was bad, having deliberately assisted a non indigene to have governed the state for eight years.

“UPN is disturbed by the ugly development unfolding in Ogun State. It is unthinkable that the chief executive of the state confessed to a crime of perjury, subversion of truth and wilful act of deceit against the citizenry of the state.

“For Governor Amosun to have confessed to a crime he committed in 2003 by assisting, by his own confession, a stranger, an alien, to govern the state, he is as guilty as Daniel, in fact, he is more guilty,” Soluade said.

The party then called on the resignation of the governor immediately, failure of which should attract impeachment process against the governor by the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The state chairman said, “We therefore, call on Governor Amosun to immediately tender his letter of resignation. If he fails to do this within seven days, the state House of Assembly should commence impeachment process against him.

Very careless statement coming from Amosun, I'm surprised that Lai Mohammed and his cohorts have decided to play dumb on this issue

The large mouthed governor has the effrontery to call the Isoko tribe "bastards". He should better tender a public apology before its too late.
