dytbabe: I see you are looking at it from the: "what is the benefit to me?" angle. Let us look at it this way: your husband knows you are not hungry, you can buy whatever you want and he also buys you stuff. In addition to all of this, he thinks a bouquet of flowers are beautiful and looking and probably smelling them might make you feel good in its own unique way and he sees it as a symbolic gesture showing his love and caring about you. Besides, they will not wilt (at least not immediately) if you place them in a vase with water. What do you say to this? |

dytbabe: Trees are heavy, not so beautiful and would probably crush you to death. What he is saying is: "If you say no to flowers because you think they are not a Nigerian thing, what symbolic gifts do you value that do not involve you actually eating or using them as a tool, gadget etc?' You would drive a car and use a phone to communicate/socialise. Hence, they are not symbolic but functional gifts. |
