In battling the political echelon for defense budget
increases on Sunday, the commander of the Israel
Air Force, Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel, reminded
everyone that the same planes used to attack
Gaza over the summer could be called upon at
any moment to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“There’s no one in this room who’d be prepared
to ride in a car as old as our planes,” Eshel said
in remarks carried by Israel’s Channel 2 News.
“Yesterday these planes were in Gaza, and
tomorrow we may send them to Tehran.”
Israel’s national budget has been a source of
great tension in the wake of the summer’s Gaza
war.
Finance Minister Yair Lapid has vowed not to
raise taxes to cover the expense of the offensive
against Gaza’s Hamas rulers. But Prime Minister
Benjamin Netnayahu insists that in addition to
covering the Gaza war, Israel needs to pour
billions of additional shekels into the defense
budget in order to effectively tackle a wide range
of pressing security threats.
Netanyahu remains committed to preventing Iran
from attaining nuclear weapons at any cost, and
maintaining Israel’s air superiority is key to
following through on that promise.
With Iran remaining defiant in its quest for an
atomic bomb, Eshel’s comment was seen in local
media as a hint that Israel could be preparing to
strike the Islamic Republic in the very near future.

What is wrong with Israel? They are afraid that the so called rogue country may nuke them but that's the same reason why Iran and many countries want to acquire their own nuke too. Nobody trust each other! You can't just try to stop any country from acquiring nukes just because you don't trust them, They don't trust you too!

Anyway, This could be devastating for both countries. Iran isn't Palestinians in tiny Gaza you can easily bombard.

Pakistan is an Islamic state and they have Nukes for more than a decade now. They are the seventh country in the world to successfully develop and test nuclear weapons. They even developed theirs before North Korea(The eight and last country to developed nukes). Israel and many other coutries nuclear status is still "Undeclared" and not officially recognized.

And the drama ensues. I call bluff. Why Israel haphazardly churns out serious threats of this nature is anyone's guess. A puff of the chest? The thrill of flexing in a 'no flex zone'? This isn't Palestine.

No one would have blink an eye about Iran's Nuclear program if it's not obvious they are hell bent to see Israel is off the map, and you all defending her here knows that. Several attempt has been made to get rid of these jews. The same way US sees NK as a great threat, no rogue state should be allowed to own a nuclear warhead, it's for the benefit of all. These are countries ruled by aggressive "dictators" with unpredictable characters. The hypocrisy on this forum stinks to the high heavens.

P.S I'm not against a country trying to protect it territory and people. It's a question of motives and the drive behind developing those WMD.
