February 25 Exodus 24v7

7. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord has said will we do, and be obedient.

Glory be to God the eternal One for another opportunity He's given that we may speak to one another. There is a book of remembrance with God. We are God's jewels. We are servants of Christ. Today's passage talks about Bible reading.
I've seen Bible reading observed in different services. Ever wondered like Judas, to what purpose is/was this? Why all this 'formality', regiment, tradition or whatyoucallit. Well, today's passage proves Bible reading time to be biblical. It sure fulfills its purpose.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 12:02pm On Feb 25, 2010
What may sound lifeless, dry to you may bring life and light to others who are poor in spirit. Why not avail yourself the opportunity to be touched of God in all things.
Do you know some have a special part of the church service where they get blessed? To some, it is during the worship, to some it is when Bro Y is on the musical instrument or when Sis B is taking solo. To many it's when preacher A 'mounts the pulpit'. To them, every other thing na formality. They could even afford to slip into church just before their 'blessing time' comes.
This is not a godly attitude. Let's say from today like the people of God, "All that the Lord has said will we do, AND BE OBEDIENT".

February 26 Acts 26v24

24. And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

There's a place in the Word that says the tongue is a world. This shows that it is big. It has capacity. It shows then that everyone that can talk has a whole world to himself/herself. This should teach us not to be swayed by mere words. Talk is cheap.
Many people get carried away by just what they hear. They act and build their lives based on what a man says. In Today's passage, Festus said that Paul the apostle was mad. You know, that's not a sensible thing to say. But Festus said it boldly. The text says Festus said it with a loud voice. He must have been so sure of himself, you'll think.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 2:36pm On Feb 26, 2010
Festus made this proclamation in the open, in fact, in the midst of principal men of the city. Yet, he was wrong. We should learn from this! Just because someone is continuously saying something, even unopposed, doesn't mean it is true. That you always see someone talking on television doesn't automatically mean he's the 'way to go'.
He may say it with a loud voice. He may say it with composure and oratory. He might say it among the who is who. He might even be to you, a most noble Festus. Talk is cheap. As a child of God, you need to search whether those things are so.
Search is the word in Acts 17v11. Not look, SEARCH. Don't get tossed about with one or two verses and some good to be true logic, stories and demeanour. SEARCH daily. God will keep you.

March 2 Psalm 1v1

1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful

Another month is always another chance. A chance for newness, a chance for blessing. Today's passage shows us the key, the pathway to blessing. This month of March is your month of blessing. There's blessing in marching forward. The word 'march' appears seven times in the kjv translation. It connotes authority, boldness and charisma. That's the blessedness that awaits you in the Spirit this month.
The pathway to this blessedness is to live above compromise with sin or satan. Stay clear of sin.

Don't bargain, give in or concede to the devil and his agents. In touchy issues and areas where te church doesn't seem to agree, abstinence is a safer/wiser option. It is better to be in Life 'maimed'/impaired than to be dead right but dead nonetheless.
Stay away from the lifestyle of the ungodly, sinners and scornful. Don't you think to walk there. Those who walked there before us, later came to stand there, and they ended up sitting there and dying there. Learn from their mistakes. Learn to do good. God bless you.

March 4 Hebrews 4v11

11. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

If you listen too often to preaching on the media i.e radio and T.V, you'll likely have the idea that everybody is going to Heaven. Truth be told, not everybody is going to Heaven. Heaven is a holy place, a special place. Today's passage talks about labour to enter into it.
Many preachers are bold to say that all you need is faith. Criminals and prostitutes are now having faith that they will get to Heaven. When repentance and holiness was preached, sinners had faith to repent, and they truly repented of their EVIL deeds.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 8:06am On Mar 04, 2010
Nowadays, repentance is old school. In its stead, you say it and grab it, you are born of God. Holiness is now a blasphemy of the old covenant, God only sees Jesus when He looks at you.
The Bible doesn't say these things. Our Today's passage says [b]labour [b]. Our churches can not continue to dwell on prosperity and deliverance all year round. The whole counsel needs to be preached. In red letter, Jesus says "strive to enter, many will try but will not be able". When are you going to start work? Let us therefore labour.

March 5 Hebrews 5v8,9

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.

Oh! the love that drew salvation's plan,
Oh! the grace that brought it down to man,
Oh! the mighty gulf that God did span,
At Calvary.

Mercy there was great and grace was free, Pardon there was multiplied to me.
There my burdened soul found liberty,
At Calvary. William Newell (1868-1956)
This song recaptures the tone of Today's passage. The beauty of the cross, calvary. Jesus Christ learnt obedience at the cross! While we wouldn't go deep into that, we should note that Jesus learnt at the cross.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 3:18pm On Mar 05, 2010
How often, as followers of Jesus, we need to come back to the cross. There's always something for us to learn at Calvary. The cross has being despised by many today, yet Jesus said we must take it up daily . It is a proof of our christianity. When last did you take up the cross? Have you been there today?
Jesus was being 'made perfect' at Calvary, making Him the start of eternal salvation to us. The Spirit cannot lead you, without leading you to the cross. You need to learn and be made perfect. This is verily Christlikeness.

March 12 1Chronicles 11v9

9. So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.

Whatever you are doing now, you can do greater. Whatsoever you've seen before, you can do greater. Waxing greater is a character of the righteous. If you are diminishing, I believe you should re-check on your righteousness. The path of the just shines more and more. Your today should be better than yesterday. Your tomorrow should be better than today.
I'm not simply referring to only transient things like your bank account or your car garage. I speak of your righteousness. Is your righteousness waxing greater and greater, exceeding the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees?
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 4:32pm On Mar 12, 2010
Is your joy greater and greater? Is your peace greater and greater? David waxed greater, and as if greater was not enough, it became 'and greater'. Why? For the Lord was with him. He (God) is the source of true greatness. Nothing else brings true greatness. Come on. Let's wax greater. . . . and greater.

1. We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

The average christian today reacts quite strongly against correction or criticism. Many are now content to 'serve God in their own way'. Nobody wants to 'judge' anyone. There are judge not, judge not clamours and everyone is left to himself to do as his heart feels. That's why christians now pray anyhow, praise God anyhow, preach anyhow and perish anyhow. No walls.
Today's passage talks about those that are strong and those that are weak. How do the strong bear the infirmities of the weak if they do not judge/discern to know that this is a weak believer and then correct him/her?
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 1:48pm On Mar 15, 2010
Strong believers need to come out of their fears and be ready like Christ to BE reproached for speaking the truth. Let's judge righteously and build the body of Christ. Let's not please ourselves but carry away the weakness of the weak. They will receive strength and you will renew your strength.

April 2 1Peter 2v24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Today's passage reminds us of what makes today a good Friday. It's not the holiday mood that makes it good. It's not the office bonus or the carnival, or the programme. Obviously, it's not Judas' betrayal or Jesus' crucifixion.
What makes it a good Friday was that His own self bare our sins on the cross. It's only Good so that we are dead, nay DEAD to sins.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 12:12am On Apr 03, 2010
This is the day when Jesus took my sins and your sins and the Father 'looked away'. It's the day when we received power to live unto righteousness.
Because He bore our sins, we can live unto righteousness, hallelujah. We can be righteous. It is finished. Himself, He took our sins away. Don't carry those sins no more. Live above sin, live unto righteousness, and let Him have His perfect work in you. His work guarantees your healing. Drop that sickness now, it has being paid for. You were healed, you were healed. Walk in freedom. You're free indeed.

11. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

This season we celebrate the victory Christ obtained at calvary's tree. Yes, there was a battle, a fight, a combat. It was a terrible one. Christ suffered for us, paid it all gruesomely. The nail, the shame, the seperation all that the sinless lamb bore Himself. He has paid all, we all have NO excuse. Now, there is terror, eternal horror for those who will not take advantage of so great salvation. We need to know that. Let's not be ignorant.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 9:01am On Apr 06, 2010
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, very important. You might know many other things, this one is essential. Add to your virtue this knowledge. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord. Judgement day is coming, warn yourself and warn others. Persuade your friends, relatives, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Don't doubt the terror, it will happen. Know it. Don't perish for lack of knowledge. You'll not perish in Jesus' name.

April 7 Hebrews 6v18

18. That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.

Immutable, unchangeable, impossible. These are decisive qualities, attributes of the God we serve. We know God is omnipotent. He can do all things but he cannot lie. It is impossible for God to lie.
What a hope we have, what an assurance. What God has said, He will do. This is our strong consolation, He will bless us.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 10:33pm On Apr 07, 2010
There are two unchangeable things He has done. He has said, and then sworn and He cannot lie. That settles it. He will bless you. 'Surely, blessing I will bless you'. This is the Word of God. Let us lay hold on this hope set before us. Let's run with it. Let's live for it. It's an anchor of the soul. God will fulfill His promises in your life. Whatever the storm, the rain, the wind, hold on to the Rock. Your house will stand still, it will not fall. This is immutable.

April 8 Proverbs 7v3

3. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

The Bible says faith without works is dead. We don't want to be living on dead faith. It's ironic, isn't it? Therefore, we need to work. There are things we need to do to enter into the fulness of God's promises, will and ways.
Today's passage instructs us on somethings. He says bind them on your fingers. Tie it to yourself. Don't drop and pick up the Word at will, bind it on your fingers. Everywhere you go, go with it. It's like when you wear a watch or wedding ring. It makes a mark on you. That is what binding looks like. Let God's Word have effect on you. Don't be indifferent, not convinced.

Smith Wigglesworth, a great Christian leader in his time used to say "I will move the Spirit". He wasn't a passive christian. That's the attitude our Today's passage encourages. He says write them on the table of thine heart. Do you know, God promises to do exactly that for us. But here, He says 'do it', don't wait, move the Spirit, be in agreement, take the step. God will confirm it with signs following in Jesus' name.

April 9 1Corinthians 8v12

But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

We're living in a age of exceeding knowledge. Learning resources that were not available even compiled to the twelve disciples of Jesus are today on many phones, computers and libraries. Audio bible, video bible, cartoon bible, children bible, youth bible, marriage bible, african bible, concordance, dictionary, commentary, footnote, search engine, encyclopedia and many more.
Many now profess wisdom and yet are fools. They've left the simplicity that is in Christ. And worse of all, they don't only affect themselves but weak brethren around. The weak is PERISHING. This sin against the brethren is sin against Christ.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 1:35pm On Apr 09, 2010
Would you keep your superfluous knowledge to yourself and not pull others to follow you with it? There are so many bold assertions today, people have 'well' read and heard, but be aware please. Do not wound others' weak consciences. Swallow your pride. Teach us in humility and not by force or coercion. You may be wrong after all.
Truth is constant, not relative. Debate is relative, don't feed on it. Having better points than the co-debater isn't a sure anchor for truth. An infidel can have 40 points and still be on the road to hell. Eternal life in Christ is more than points, do not sin so against the brethren.

April 10 Hebrews 10v13

13. From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

It has being said that what you conceive you can achieve. As he thinks in his heart, so is he. Little wonder speech makers encourage all to have positive thoughts of the future. It does work. You know, even God employs this, calling the things that be not as though they were.
Our Lord Jesus demonstrates same in today's passage, expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. Very definite. If you read through prophecy and you know God's Word to be true, you'll see that that's what eventually happens. Let us follow the Master's example. His expectation produced manifestation.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 9:00pm On Apr 10, 2010
What are you expecting? Your expectation should start from now, you know? From henceforth. Don't wait till next year, or after this result or trial. From henceforth expecting. Expect a miracle, expect answers to prayers. Expect great things to achieve great things(w. Carey). Expect God's promises to be fulfilled. That is active faith.
Active faith is expectant. Expect your enemies to succumb. Sin must be defeated, it can't continue to rule over you. satan, sickness should be made your footstool. These are your primary enemies, they must come under. Expect something good from henceforth, today, for yourself and others.

4. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith Abel offered! What a principle, such a way, living by faith. How much we need to walk by faith. Faith shouldn't be mistaken as a lazy daydream, no. Faith presses for the prize, the fullness of reward, our passage calls it more than excellent.
Abel was said to offer a more excellent sacrifice than Cain. So Cain's sacrifice wasn't necessarily bad after all. It is not that the fruits were decayed or unripe. It's not that they weren't up to a tenth, that's not the issue. Maybe Cain even rated 80%, but thank God for Abel, Abel presented a more excellent sacrifice.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 2:06pm On Apr 11, 2010
A more excellent sacrifice goes by faith. Examine your sacrifice today. Is it possible that it's not more excellent than Cain's? You may bring the varieties of fruits, a tradefair worthy presentation, a sacrifice, yes a SACRIFICE. You're not the first to sacrifice. You may seize great initiative like Cain and be the first to offer. You may even bring a new cart like king David. But better still, I beseech you, make it holy and acceptable to God. It may look well pleasing and just fine to you and your friends. Is it 'commanding' God's respect?
Go for the best of the best, a more excellent one. Have faith in God, that is key.

April 12 Proverbs 12v17

17. He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Recently, I overheard conversation between two children. One of them had given startling information to the other. For this other to confirm, he repeatedly quoted "say the truth and let the devil be ashamed, all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire". It played a smile on my lips, sort of reminisce.
As you grow into adulthood, you may not scream 'say the truth and let the devil be ashamed'. But do you know that this truth is constant? The truth makes the devil ashamed. He that speaks truth shows righteousness. The prevalent lie from the pit of hell, is that no one can live without telling lies. Even the religious society has embraced this lie. They say nobody is perfect, we need to tell a little lie once in a while to save a life. No, no, no. He that speaks truth shows righteousness.
Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(m): 11:12am On Apr 12, 2010
If you are a child of God, then you are righteous. And if you are righteous, then you'll speak the truth. All things are possible to him that believes. It's unfortunate that many believers do not believe this.
You can live a blameless, holy and truth filled life. If truly the Spirit of God is in you, you'll speak the truth for He is the Spirit of Truth.
