Just imagine, can`t he just say "no comment" for now.I guess he must have been smoking weed wrapped in dollars when he made first statement.Or there is no network signal in borno.Even the police hardly make such mistakes

This kind of false information from a top miliatary officer is totally unacceptable. Why should he decide to mislead the general public?

I hope he won't wake up one day to tell us there has been a coup in Nigeria?

God help us!!

At a time like this,is it right for the military to come up with a story like that only to come up with a retraction?Do they even appreciate the importance of the subject matter?
Whatever happened to precision?
Am beginning to believe that this administration is one hell of a circus.Shame.

The cluelessness of this administration is beyond measure. Can't they just get at least 1 thing right ? To give a credible information is even very difficult to do for GEJ and his cronies. Before you know it now; PDP E-rat (TAN) will label every sensible Nigerian Bokoharam sympathiser/apologist.

This is an international disgrace! How long will this government continued to rubbish Nigeria image? The Defense spokesman should start preparing his resignation letter.

barcanista: it is ideal to withdraw the first but false statement.
The first wasn't a false statement. The DHQ did say that some chibok girls were freed. So it's wrong to say that the DHQ never made such statement.

I will be disappointed if this man is not relieved of his job. Only a senseless man can make such a statement and then deny it.

He should be fired for playing with the emotions of the families of those girls and the nation at large.

A man in such a sensitive position should be careful with his words. He has shown he can't do the job.

Never felt this emotional in recent time. My heart bleeds for this nation.

barcanista: PR gone wrong. Chris Olukolade should be redeployed from the Defence Public Relations Department for this embarrassment he has brought to the Military, the Government and Nigeria.
In a saner country, he wÍll demand fÓr his redeployment or resignatioÑ.
Redeployment? Outright sack please. That's what he deserves.
