Ahead of the 2015 general election in Imo State and the country, and in effort to clinch the desired governorship slot of the state, chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have extended their olive branch to a All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) leader in the state, Chief Martin Agbaso, to return as a founding member to assist in bringing victory to the party in the state.

Leading a powerful delegation to Agbaso’s country home in Ezedibia Emekuku in the Owerri North Local Government Area, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who represents Imo West in the  Senate pleaded passionately with him to return to his original base, adding that such a personality does not need to play regional politics but should come back to mainstream of national politics.

According to Uzodinma whose delegation comprised the state executive committee of the party, including its state chairman, Chief Nnamdi Anyahie, the visit to Agbaso was in line with the step taken by the national leadership of the party which last week constituted a peace  reconciliation committee in each of the six geo-political zones of the  country to reconcile differences among members of the  party.

“Consequently, we have been able to reach out to some founding fathers of our party who for one reason or another left for other political parties, and we know that Agbaso is one of those we feel should come back for us to deliver our party.”

Continuing, Uzodinma who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, said: “So today, we decided to come here to formally invite you to come back to the PDP as you are one of our brothers and because of the seriousness which we have attached to this exercise, that is why I am here in person.”

Adding his voice to the plea, the stateChairman of the party, Anyaehie, described Agbaso as a great political giant, a rare philanthropist, and seasoned leader.

Anyaehie, expressed optimism that the APGA political warlord would hearken to the request of the party leadership to assist the party to build a model and economically viable Imo State which all would be proud of.

Responding, Agabso thanked members of the delegation for the visit, stating that he had already had series of discussions with the leadership of the party to this effect.

He expressed absolute confidence in the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan as well as in the performance of Uzodinma at the nation’s upper legislative chamber, but pleaded for time to enable him take a position on their request.

Martin Agbaso...is it the case of a rolling stone that gathers no moss?

One would have expected a politician of your clout to have accumulated considerable political capital by now. This habit of being tossed about by every wind of political persuasion is hardly going to help your cause of coming to serious reckoning in the scheme of things in Imo State.

Owerri main (Owerre Nchi Ise) politicians... serial underperformers since you-can't-tell-when...
