Chapter One.
Adora. was a very beautiful lady and was fair to look at. She was very tall, with straight legs. she was also an intelligent lady that could easily win the heart of any man. Her parents were very proud of her because of her beauty and intelligence too. Adora loves Ken so much that she could do anything to see her love bird. Ken also loves Adora in return and would fight whatever wanted to stand between him and his love bird. Despite their love for each other, there was a challenge between them, Ken was from a humble background while Adora's parents were extremely rich.

Hey Ma'am, glad you took the bold step to wanna write. That's actually bold and awesome. But, I'd suggest you have a guideline when you wanna write any genre of literature.

Many writers here on NL and beyond have written wonderful stories, which you can trail their part. Watch closely how they start, and handle their storyline as it goes. Learn how they choose their words to sooth their readers, leaving them hungry to read on.

Your synopsis, it was more of telling than showing. Embed your description creatively, don't just tell us what it is. Eg Adaora is fair or Adaora is from a rich family. Those lines are too simple and quite a cliche.

I really must commend your zeal, it's amazing... It's in you... Keep writing... You will get there...

continuation.
The two lovers met at school when they were registering for their courses at the university administrative block during their early university days. They were to study Chemistry together. They started as friends who had lots of things in common. Adora was a rich type. She could spend all she had on Ken whose parents were paying his school fees through their nose.
Obinna, an Igbo man from Anambra was an engineer. He was a contractor and had his hands on many of the high capital intensive project going around the city. His name Peter Obinna was an household name in the city. He was known by all, both old and young. This was an Igbo chieftain who had many traditional titles to his name. His personal wealth could be compared to the wealth of some West African billionaires.
Adora was not the only child of Chief Obinna. He had three other children but all of them were boys. That was why the Obinna's would not fail to deal with anyone who moved around their beautiful daughter who was the Apple of their eyes. Chief Obinna had great plans for all his children as they all studied abroad except Adora who refused to school in London on the ground that she did not actually want to be far from home. When it broke into severe arguments, Chief Peter Obinna succumbed to his only daughter's request to study in Nigeria.
There was absolutely noting that Adora desired that she would not get. Her father changed her vehicle every semester. Inspite of her parent's wealth, Adora would not toil with helping people, both old and young. She was so humble to the extent that she could not be taken for a rich man's daughter except for her beautiful skin and expensive outfits.
Many guys had fought one another to win her inexplicable love, but she would never give herself so cheap to anybody.
It was therefore a big surprise when Adora announced to her friends, Beatrice and Joy about Ken Roberts. It was obviously a true love that existed between these two love birds. In their department, many of the students had initially thought that they were siblings if not for their different surnames that gave them away. Some even went to the extent of saying that there was a striking resemblance between them.
The most important of all these comments was that Adora and Ken loved each other tremendously. it was indeed a love that had no blemish or wrinkle.
On several occasions, Adora had tested her lover Ken if the love he claimed he had for her was genuinely true.

A test Adora gave Ken was a sensitive one. she arranged some boys to molest her and paid for the act. she asked Beatrice and Joy to rush down and tell her heartrob that she was in danger. Ken got there and saw three unknown faces trying to molest Adora. He fought furiously and the guys fled as arranged by Adora.
After that day, Adora's love grew with all tenacity towards Ken. Both were just like six and five. With all these good times they were having together, they had not been to each other's house before. All through the years they spent in the university they did not take time to visit each other they graduated from school.
"when do u want me to come to your house, Ken?" Adora asked.
"There's no problem my dear. you can come at your desired time. Just tell me when you want me to come?"Ken replied.
"Why do I need to tell you the time I want to come to Mr Ken Roberts house?" Adora asked jokingly.
" I have to tell my parents so that my mother can prepare our local dish of gbegiri and ewedu with amala so that you can eat",Ken replied enthusiastically as they both laughed together.
Dora baby, pls don't do anything you would not want me to know",Ken pleaded.
like what sweetheart, asked Adora smiling.

"don't allow any man to look at you twice and when they do, ask them to apologize for doing so".
Adora could not control Ber laughter. she laughed till her ribs cracked.
"I have an idea of what you need to do. just get me a bodyguard that is not handsome to guard me. I need an ugly man to do that job, so that he won't make advances at me", Adora continued with her joke.

Alright Miss Adora Obinna. I am still expecting my NYSC posting. hope to settle you soon as I start receiving "allowii" from the government ,Ken replied.
Ken concluded as the two lovers separated. They had been praying fervently and hoped they would be lucky to be posted to the same state to serve their fatherland.
Obinna called her daughter to ask her the state of her choice in NYSC scheme. The man wanted to use his great influence but his daughter preferred God to settle that Area. She couldn't give her father a response because of Ken.
Chief Obinna would query his daughter about Ken. she knew her father to be a nice man and a caring person too but found it too hard to tell him about her relationship with Ken. She didn't know how to tell him because of the boy's background and tribe. Ken was a Yoruba man and was from a poor family. His parents were farmers from a local village in a neighboring state. Adora knew her father would not accept Ken as her husband to be. That was the reason she kept him away, praying and hoping that God will resolve the issue.
One the day Adaora visited Ken's village, it was a great day for Ken as he was seen smiling all through in the community. Everyone knew something good had happened to him. Truly it was something good because he wished, prayed and hoped for a long time that Adora would visit him.
The question is how would Ken's Parents feel when they found out the lady's profile? Will Adora marry Ken? will her father agree?

CHAPTER 2
KEN’S FAMILY HOUSE
How are you my daughter? Mr. Roberts asked Adora a simple question as he smiled just like Ken his son. It was obvious that they smiled a lot in that family.
“I am Adora Peter Obinna”, Adora responded. She couldn’t raise her head up to look at Ken’s parents in the face.
“Are you the daughter of engineer Obinna, the former minister of works and housing?”
Adora was astonished and unhappy because she did not like to be recognized as the daughter of a rich man. She detested it.
“Yes sir I am sir ……………….” She lowered her head as a sign of humility
“That is fine my girl relax. You are at home here. Make yourself comfortable please.
Ken’s mother entertained their guest whole heartedly. Adora was happy and she felt at home. She played with Ken’s younger ones Mary and Paul. They were twins and Adora went along with every member of Ken’s family.
Ken was on top of the world as he sat on a chair in the poorly furnitured sitting room. Everyone in the village knew somebody great came around. When it was time to leave, she knelt down and gave an envelop each to Ken’s mother and his younger ones.
When Adora had left, his best friends Kunle and Fola came to congratulate him because they knew the kind of person their friend was. Ken was a shy person. Bringing a lady home was a thing of joy to them.
“Oko Iyawo atata” Kunle and Fola said playfully in their local dialect.
“Emi niyen jor” Ken replied shyly
So you can woo a lady. That’s a bold step you have taken,” said Kunle
I hope you didn’t spend a year practicing what you will say when you first met, Fola said.
Ken punched Fola hard on his shoulders and he yelled. They teased him a lot and he felt happy.
Ken returned back into the house and his father summoned him into the bedroom. “Are you sure the parents of the that girl would allow you to marry their daughter? He asked?
Roberts started gently. He spoke so quietly that no one could hear him.
“Definitely Papa, I am planning a visit after our youth service to their house to know her parents just as she did.
“I have my reason for asking. That girl is innocent and humble but her parents are very wealthy. Rich people hardly allow their children to marry paupers like us”. Mr. Roberts retorted stressing out the important points.
“You are right father but the most important thing is the love between us. She loves me father and I love her too.” Ken stated.”
“I understand you son. I know you love each other but you need to understand my point. There is a wide margin between the rich and the poor, that margin would be there forever. You and I cannot remove it. The rich would not always want their children to marry anybody from a poor background”. Mr. Roberts spoke with great concern as he looked at his son’s face hoping he understood his plight.
It is when you get into the house of that girl and they accept you that is when you can be sure of marrying her. Parental consent is very important in a marital relationship. If a parent insists that their child should not marry somebody, it will stand. Please son, you need to be sure you will be accepted first in that relationship. Ken’s father dropped the final word and walked away leaving him to his thoughts.
After that day, Ken became a worried man. He loved Adora so much and could imagine anything standing their ways.
“What if her parents don’t accept me as their son in-law?” Ken asked himself. He could not forget his father’s words. He knew his father too well. He was like a prophet and hardly said something without coming to pass. He was a wise and highly intelligent man who had great experiences in issues of life.

MEETING POINT
Ken went back to Lagos and met Adora at their usual meeting point. After exchanging pleasantries and asking after each other’s families.
“I have something important to discuss with you my love. I hope you will understand the basis of the content of our discussion”. Ken said
“Am listening my darling” replied Adora.
Adora smiled as she waited impatiently over what her heartrob have to say.
“My parents accepted you” Ken began
Is that so? Am so excited and great. She stood up from where she sat and hugged him tightly.
“My father suggested that I visit your house so as to know my fate. He said further that your parents being rich may not accept me, he said that only few rich parents would allow their children to get married to a pauper”.
Ken rounded and sigh, he looked at her love bird and wondered what she has to say.
“I promise never to leave you Ken, I love you so much and I chose to be with you for the rest of my life. Never pledge the allegiance of my love to any one else”. Adora rounded off her “sweet” talk that day as Ken smiled and spoke quietly. “I trust you dear, I will always love you.
Just wait till the end of NYSC scheme and I will introduce you to my parents. Adora assured her darling. They each settled down to eat and drank to their satisfaction in the restaurant.
Two weeks later, they met again at school to collect their NYSC posting letters as scheduled. They were posted to two different states. Adora was posted to Niger state while Ken was posted to Bayelsa state. They accepted their fate and prayed to God to keep them when they would b going finally.
Ken got home and arranged all his needs for the journey. His parents were most happy and grateful because Ken was their first child.
Adora prepared well for her youth service. She was to travel by air to Niger state.

AT THE MOTOR PARK
The two love birds met at the ojota motor park and sat in a restaurant attached to the park. They ate and drank and plated with each other.
“we will soon depart”
“yes Ken don’t worry. I will be the first to call your mobile as soon as I land in the airport. My flight is scheduled or six not seven. She informed Ken.
After a lot of promises to each other, Adora rose up and embraced her love and bidded him farewell.
Ken could not utter a word as he watched the love of his life fading away into thin air.
What happened to the promises made to each other?
