Africans are not intellectually to say pale skin (white) or yellow (Asians). Africans are just pre occupied with religion and ethnicity instead of building a strong national values, development oriented ideology, togetherness and national unity.

Japan was an over crowded island in the 18th century before contact with Europeans. They learn and borrow from GERMAN, Dutch and British. japan rise to become a leading industrialized and technological advanced nation. Nigeria can become a great nation, if people stop worrying about ethnicity and religion

Well u are right too.. On the japan aspect the evolved positively. From the 18th century to date is enough to evolve a people .. A few african leaders know about this.. They need to study their people.. The modify them to emancipated them and for the vision of the country to come to pass .. By the time that is done.. In the future.. There would have been a behavioral shift.. So far ..we have been sowing the wrong seeds.. So if care is not taken and steps not taken u can imagine the future.

Nothing is special about south Africa.
This is country that started mining iron ore, gold, coal for more than 100years before Nigeria gain her independent.

south Africa gain her independent in 1910 when most Africans ( except for Ethiopia and Liberia) were under colonization yet can only generate 40k megawat when south Korea is generating 120k.

south Africa is a third world country a little bit better than Nigeria in infrastructure because of longer year of political stability and democracy.

since 1999 when Nigeria return to democracy. Nigeria has posed better growth outlook.

Gdp figures 1999 : Nigeria ( 70 billion)
south Africa( 250billion)

2014: Nigeria(525billion)
south Africa (320billion)

SMH.. Your talk does not hold water .. U seriously need to concentrate on the developing nigeria.. Rather than consoling yourself with where south africa is getting it wrong. Abeg

sister what are you talking about?
1. if agriculture is developed, cottage industries are developed and agro allied industries are put inplace through encouragement of private and foreign investment. when these are put in place rural to urban area migration will stop and your lagos will not be over populated. who's responsibility is it to provide the aforementioned facilities?
government put inplace law reinforcement to fight indiscipline, enforce town planning laws and force people to disposed off their refuse. it is not the function of an average Nigerians.
gov't in every country design the tax system not the individual, since Nigeria gov't are ok with eassy oil money what do u want Nigerians to do?

I was using simple examples to show how we love to criticized and point fingers. The private sector needs to be more developed than the public sector for a country to develop. Who employs the most (even over employs) . We have youths who have set up farms on their own ( accolades). Are you sure agriculture is not developed by the government?? The tax system that we have do we not all try to evade it. Good schools cost money. If you pay more will you not get more value ( case in point private universities??) . Law enforcement officers who lay their lives on the line for you for paltry sums and do not ever get your respect?? When your salary does not cater to all your needs do you not set priorities? No government has limitless funds and too much borrowing is not good for the economy. Ok give us a plan/budget about income and expenditure which you would undertake if you were a public official stating what sectors you would focus on. ( present it and let's critic).

There are so many laws(e.g road, taxes sanitation, customs, bribery) to guide us which we flaunt and the manners which we all refuse to show at home are compelled on us abroad. My point is still when we point figures the other four points back to us. Let's start giving positive feedback in our words and actions if we truly expect change.

Nigerians got their country back in 1960 not 1999,black south Africans got their country back in 1994 not 1910...at the present moment SA is a member of brics and G20 countries....Nigeria is not,do you know what does that mean?in terms of global economic competitiveness your country is at number 127 beaten by countries like Lesotho,SA is at 56....your 500billion GDp is just a big house without appliances inside...come December SA will be opening a new power plant which will produce more than 4800MW of electricity...before 1994 only 35 % 0f households in SA were electrified, today 93 % of households have access to electricity...anyway let me stop right here so that you can continue writing lies and wishful thoughts...Nigeria is a better country keep it like that ...

And "where" exactly is that? The majority you are talking about do NOT think as a people, therefore no progress.

Its a given that if you take way colonization, our history would definitely have been different. You don't impose on people, rather let me have the will to carve out their future and ways. This precisely is the story of the world at large and this is the cause and effect. The result of colonization.

The intention of the "whites" was never to teach you anything to make you better than "they" are. It was always a divide and rule strategy. This is a FACT! cheesy

Actually we are not inferior....especially as the academic performances of Nigerians abroad shows otherwise(Nigerian children in the UK do better at the A-levels than Caribbean kids for example).

The problem is that we are so blessed with resources, that we prefer to take the easy way to ''economic development'' by selling said resources, and sharing the money, which we then use to import and import and award contracts.

Countries like China, South Korea and Japan that used to be behind African countries (Fact: China's per capita GDP in 1973 was behind that of Sierra Leone) are countries that have limited natural resources. So, they have to rely on industrial products, which forces them to develop their education systems well into problem solving educaiton systems. As a result , Asians do better on the educaiton scales than Africans and even Europeans and the US!. The reason being that education and industrial development are the only means of survival for these people.

Whereas in Africa we really do not ''need'' education as desperately as resource poor Asian and European(and even the US) does....we can just sell our oil/diamonds/copper/tin/etc....and use the money to import the things that we can manufacture. As a result , we have become so resource dependent...and by extension, ''intellectually dull'' because we refuse to use our education as it should be used.

And that is why, as a Southerner and an indigene of an oil producing state, I do not support resource control. Not because it is wrong, but because it is not good for our intellectual development....and by extension our self sufficiency as a nation(I would say the same if I were a Hausa Northerner...and against Hausa opposition to resource control).

Oil is not good for development...intellectual or industrial and ultimately economic.
