Man’s way is clearly different from God’s. God himself affirms this as seen in the prophecy of Isaiah. This however should not be the tale if not for man’s estrangement from God, beginning with the fall in the Garden of Eden. Ever since, man in the unregenerate state can only be referred to, in the language of Paul, as the natural man. His intellect has become clouded by the influence of the devil upon the cosmos. He sees according to course of this world and is referred to as disobedient.

Away from God, man is set in his own natural, mundane way which is most of the time framed by the selfish, fallen nature. His choices are bound in sin and self-seeking enterprise. His perspective has no bearing with the ways and the plan of the eternal God. None among them does anything absolutely good.

Man’s way is depicted by tradition, custom, and philosophy that denies human spirituality. He is therefore materially driven, walking by sight and not by faith. His life and views lean heavily on the five senses. Whatever is not materially tangible is unreal to him. You can imagine the implication of The way of man stipulates that physical matter is the only reality, and that economic and social change are materially caused; it sees a mechanical, fixed order in nature that excludes free will; and views societies as ordered, regular, and predictable, thus denying all supernatural significance to man life.

When man turns to God, he finds liberty from servitude to sin and bondage to the mundaneness of life. He sees from God’s standpoint, word and ways. He sees beyond now and makes choices that are pleasing to God and relevant to God’s eternal scheme.

Man must seek after God to ensure that God’s way becomes his way; and that is to be done for his good.

God’s way is good
