Friday, may 18, 2012 is a very eventful and important day in history, the date of the biggest ever public offering (IPO) in technology and internet history, the singular event that handed the ‘shaping’ of the mores of modern culture to one man. With an initial capitalization of $104 billion, its founder, mark zuckerberg, into the rarefied stratosphere of one of the world’s richest men.
Though Facebook is a publicly quoted company, mark zuckerberg retains an amazing 57% of voting shares (but, initially, only 22% of company stock) immediately after the IPO, thereby retaining control of the values, direction and influencing of the company’s ethics and ethos, this has given a man (without knowledge of the truth of GOD’S word) incredible and far reaching influence to determine what is acceptable thinking/behaviour in this world.
Facebook is a business. It is a business before it is a social media moderator or a champion of free speech and ideas, and like all other businesses. The bottom line is the bottom line. Therefore, the deciding factor in determining the direction or the contents on Facebook is not equity or justice or truth. It is profit. That is why every time content is uploaded onto Facebook, the question of what/who is glorified is not an issue. The standard for content is determined, not by principles harvested from God’s word, but by how that content would influence the profitability of the business. Little surprise then that, while governments had to discretely pressure Facebook to censor violent posts by ISIS jihadists and sympathizers, Facebook’s internal censors (by their own standards) blocked pictures of mothers breast feeding their babies.
Slanderers, perjuries, criticism of Christianity and the lifestyle, Satan worship, pornographic literature and more are easily accessible on Facebook. Interestingly, every time a Christian uploads content onto Facebook, that Christian unwittingly increases the revenue required to keep these harmful content available. She also strengthens the resources available to Facebook to censor the gospel under the category of hate speech, because the scripture’s declarations on homosexuality, Islam (and the concomitant need to preach salvation in Christ t to the religions of the world), the Palestinian lands and the likes are classified as ‘hate speech’
Encourage wholesome and edifying discourse on social networks that are based on God’s definition of equity, justice and freedom. Social network like yookos are leading the way in fulfilling Christ prayer “father in heaven….. Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven…..” when we upload or post content exclusively on yookos (with only the links posted to other social media), users are drawn to it and the membership is increased. This, in turn, increases the world the gospel can reach and influence. Facebook did not begin as the behemoth that it is today. It began as a university student’s project with very few users. Today, it is a mouthpiece and an amplifier of anything (including the message of God’s adversaries).

Yookos means 'you own the kosmos (the world)
