Sallah begins after Muslim pilgrims descend from Mount Arafat (Mount Mercy) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia as part of the requirements of Hajj. e annual Salah celebration is here again which starts on Saturday, October 4, 2014 and officially ends on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Sallah popularly known Eid-el-Kabir in Africa and Eid-al-Adha in some other parts of the world means the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’ or the ‘higher Eid/major festival’ which is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims in a year (the first being Eid-el-Fitr).

The higher Eid begins after Muslim pilgrims descend from Mount Arafat (Mount Mercy) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia as part of the requirements of Hajj. The celebration honours the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice Ishmael following God’s command but God intervened by sending lamb to be used for sacrifice instead which explains the significance of slaughtering animals for Sallah.
