London has to be counted among the world’s top tourist destinations. The amazing historical and cultural attractions in and around London are sufficient to keep a visitor tied up for months or possibly years, given enough leisure time to check them all out. Visitors planning to visit Europe should plan for at least a few days in London. That’s surely not enough time to see even a fraction of
what London has to offer, but will certainly be better than not visiting at all.



#10 London Eye

France A prominent feature of the London skyline, the London Eye is somewhat like a Ferris wheel on steroids. Visitors can climb aboard one of the
attraction’s 32 pods for a stunning 30-minute spin that offers some of the very best views of the city you can find. Riders will be treated to a bird’s eye view of up to 55 of London’s most-recognized landmarks.

The name for this famous city square comes from a historic military victory where Lord Horatio Nelson defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The square is a popular place for people from all over the city to gather every year on December 31st to celebrate the arrival of a new year.

#7 Saint Paul’s Cathedral

Featuring a dome that was inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and still stands as one of the tallest domed structures on the world, Saint Paul’s Cathedral is recognized by people around the world. The cross that sits atop the dome is approximately 365 feet (118 meters) above the ground. The cathedral was saved by the heroic efforts of London’s firefighters during World War II when the city was bombed by Hitler’s military forces.

This is a stop that political junkies absolutely cannot afford to pass up. The Palace of Westminster is also known as the Houses of Parliament, and is the place where British lawmakers convene to conduct the business of government for the kingdom’s 63 million subjects.
In the north end of the building resides The House of Commons (elected Members of Parliament) where green leather upholstery is the norm, and
the House of Lords is located at the south end of the building where the leather upholstery is red.

There may not be a more famous clock on the face of the earth than Big Ben. Another British landmark that is recognized the world over, Big Ben actually gets its name from the 13-ton bell that’s housed in the clock tower and not from the clock itself. The bell currently on duty was created in 1858 after its larger predecessor cracked in 1856. The name Big Ben comes from the fellow who first ordered the bell, whose name was Sir Benjamin Hall.

Described as both a bascule and suspension bridge that spans the River Thames, Tower Bridge is another unmistakable London landmark that is
often shown prominently in photographs of the city. Construction was started in 1886 and lasted for eight years. It’s proximity to the Tower of London is what gave the bridge its name.
