Even though Samsung has yet to launch the Galaxy
Note 4 in most markets it plans to bring its next-gen
phablet this month, the company has apparently
already identified some potential issues with the
smartphone and has released a software update to fix
them. According to SamMobile, firmware update
XXU1ANJ4 is the update in question and it is expected
to bring a variety of fixes, of which significant battery
life improvement seems to stand out.

Note 4 launch in at least one major market
Samsung has not acknowledged any issues with the
Galaxy Note 4’s battery life, but various people who
have used the phone including Marques Brownlee
(Exynos version), Danny Winget and Michael Kukielka
(Qualcomm version) said on Twitter that they have
experienced a poorer than expected battery life.
“I’m hoping it’s a fluke, but my Note 4’s battery life has
been terrible. I’ve had to plug it in at 4pm twice.”
Brownlee said. “Typical Note 4 day. 3 hours screen on
time.”
“I am actually getting decent battery life. Yesterday 5
hours of on-screen time. It is the screen though. It is a
battery drainer!” Winger said.
On the other hand, Phone Arena found the Galaxy
Note 4’s battery to offer a better performance than
any other smartphone packing a QHD display, and
beating both iPhone 6 models as well. According to
the publication’s test, the Galaxy Note 4 can offer 8
hours and 43 minutes of use.
